I'm gonna be honest here I love Linkin Park, but I don't think they can be considered a "metal band"

Great band, don't belong anywhere on this list.

Is this a joke?

This should be above infant annihilator, behemoth, and last days of humanity for overall heaviness. dying fetus whooo? These guys are pure original headbanger stuff, only the most brutal, desensitized soul is really able to handle it's overall crushing speed, power, and lyrical brutality. also, Devourment is just a Linkin Park rip off

231 Motionless In White Motionless In White Motionless in White, often abbreviated MIW, is an American metalcore band from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
232 Job for a Cowboy Job for a Cowboy Job for a Cowboy is an American death metal band from Glendale, Arizona. Formed in 2003, the band's debut album Genesis was released in 2007, peaking at No.

Unfortunately, this list is people voting for what is most comfortable in their realm. They're not going out and exploring what is truly heavy; it's merely people who aren't really into the genre voting for what is most prominent and mainstream. When put up against Job For A Cowboy, Behemoth, Thy Art Is Murder, etc., Metallica simply does not compare in terms of heaviness. And yet they remain at the top. Why? Because people recognize it. It's the "safe" part of metal. I will cede that Metallica was revolutionary. They brought a niche genre to a wider audience. However, that was 25 years ago. They are just not relevant to metal anymore.

You guys have no idea what metal is until you've heard these guys. Metallica's okay and Slipknot's okay, but this band is super ' heavy.

I don't really enjoy brutal death metal unless it has more of a grind edge and pig squeals less prominent. (i.e. I like cattle decapitation and brutal truth but not this). But obviously this is top 20 heavy

233 Bring Me the Horizon Bring Me the Horizon Bring Me the Horizon is a British rock band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls, and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively more.

^ laugh out loud not even bro there were still way heavier bands than Metallica and maiden in both the 80's and 90's

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Bring me the horizon has way heavier breakdowns and greater vocal ranger than any other band on this list the only band that could ever compete would be Asking Alexandria and
Parkway drive both of which are also way heavier than these other bands like Metallica and iron maiden now if this was heaviest 80's 90's bands then I would totally agree with this chart but for this there is no way that Metallica motorhead or iron maiden compete with some of the modern day metal bands out there

Lmao bmth is way heavier than bands on this list. I listen to slayer then bmth and definitely found bmth more heavier...

234 The Devil Wears Prada The Devil Wears Prada The Devil Wears Prada is an American metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 2005. It consists of members Mike Hranica, Jeremy DePoyster, Andy Trick, and Daniel Williams.

While most other bands just play for the fun of it, these guys put their heart into it. They're heavy and sound like they've been playing for ages.

Come on! It is a christian band but at least put it higher on this list

235 Five Finger Death Punch Five Finger Death Punch Five Finger Death Punch is an American heavy metal band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Formed in 2005, the band's name is derived from a fictional martial arts maneuver in the 2003 film Kill Bill.

5fdp should be way higher on this list. They are pretty damn heavy

236 Primus Primus Primus is an American rock band based in San Francisco, California, currently composed of bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim Alexander. Les Claypool is regarded as one of the best bassists of all time for his slap-bass ability in notable songs like "My Name Is Mud", "The Toys more.

I know most are saying they're not heavy metal, but just listen to frizzle fry and compare it to something like nothing else matters

What is primus doing here on this list

237 Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria are an English metalcore band from York, North Yorkshire formed initially in 2008 by lead guitarist Ben Bruce along with former lead singer Danny Worsnop, bassist Joe Lancaster, keyboardist and synth player Ryan Binns, and current members drummer James Cassells and rhythm guitarist more.

I love them there sound is just so different but in a good way

Whole song is screamo! M/

The way they keep the heaviness mixing with that punk type of sound is unbelievable.

238 Avenged Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfold is an American alternative metal/metalcore (early) band, that was formed 1999 in California. Their longest lineup of members was M. Shadows (Vocals), Synyster Gates (Lead Guitar), Zacky Vengeance (Rhythm Guitar), Johnny Christ (Bass Guitar), and The Rev (Drums). more.

OK, I am a big a7x fan, but seriously, what are they doing above pantera? Only 5 songs from Nightmare were heavy.

Are you kidding me? Avenged Sevenfold shouldn't be on this list. They are an okay band but they are nowhere near heavy. The only reason this is on there is all the A7X fangirls voting for this thinking its heavy. You want heavy? Check out Slayer and Carach Angren - SirSkeletorThe3rd

Come on guys, Avenged Sevenfold isn't the heaviest on the list. I know that. But they're heavier than several people above them like Maiden. Just listen to God Hates Us, The Art Of Subconcious Illusion, I Won't See You Tonight Part 2, Requiem, Critical Acclaim, etc. Just take a listen. Yes they do lots of slow/ melodic songs, but they do several heavy songs that people are unaware of!

While they're definitely not the heaviest band, just listen to their first album "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet". It's pretty heavy. Songs like "Turn The Other Way" and "The Art Of Subconscious Illusions" are probably the heaviest.

BVB deserves their name on this list damn those who don't like them at all!

240 Nickelback Nickelback Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

Nickelback are like the heaviest metal band ever when I first heard them I like got nightmares for about 2 weeks and apparently they asked Metallica if they wanted to have a fight to see who was heavier and James Hetfield started crying to Lars. Also they redefined the whole death metal genre and now many bands ie. job for a cowboy, behemoth and thy art is murder have been quoted saying nickelback is their main influence.

Really nickelback. Oh my god how is this even on the list. They are about as heavy as Justin Bieber is humble.

Matt pike riffs sound puny compared to the brutal crushing force that is raw nickelback.

Heaviest metal band ever. Should be number 1.
