41 Electric Wizard Electric Wizard Electric Wizard are an English doom metal band from Dorset, England. The band formed in 1993 and have recorded eight full length albums, two of which are now considered to be genre landmarks.

One word "Dopethrone". It really can't get any heavier than that! I really believe (in my opinion) that Avenge sevenfold is a joke band. Its hard for me to grasp a lot of these new bands that semi learn to play an instrument and change their name to something stupid that they feel sounds evil. Synyster HAHA! Joke

Yeah, this is just a popularity contest. This is definitely the heaviest band I've ever heard. Maybe not the best band in all categories, but in terms of heaviness Electric Wizard should be at least in the top 5.

How the hell is this band not even on the list, they are the heaviest band of all time, maybe not the best, but they are heavy as hell. Metallica is not very heavy, Slipknot isn't heavy, and Iron maiden isn't heavy. I like all those bands more than EW, but EW is the heaviest band of all time

Literally the heaviest band known to man

Jesus Christ, I don't think people realize that three bands out of the big 4 are honestly the least heavy thrash metal bands you'll find. German thrash metal bands like kreator, sodom, and destruction are the bands that influenced death metal and are some of the heaviest bands you'll ever hear. I can definitely say that kreator is heavier than slayer

Really kreator should be 2. Listen to violent revolution

Celtic Frost should be on this list!

My god you put kreator on 3rd page? Along with sodom, sepultura, slayer, annihilator, megadeth, anthrax they are the best thrash ever made... and what is heavier than thrash?!

48 Dragonforce Dragonforce DragonForce are a British power metal band based in London, England. Formed in 1999, the group are known for their long and fast guitar solos, fantasy-themed lyrics, and electronic sounds in their music to add to their retro video game-influenced sound.

Operation Ground and Pound is pretty heavy, but most of their songs are epic, not heavy.

Dragonforce a one of the best and they mix speed metal and power metal so there doing powder meatl :D

49 Impending Doom Impending Doom Impending Doom is an American Christian deathcore band from Riverside, California. The only reason they aren't higher is because of how underrated they are. Trust me if they were more popular they would be much higher. Listen to songs like "Deceiver", "Death Will Reign", or "Murderer" All of these are very heavy songs

Just listen to their older stuff like Nailed. Dead. Risen. Or My Nemesis they are pretty insane if you ask me. Plus most of the bands on here aren't even heavy...

These guys knock slipknot out of the park when it comes down to heaviness!

Best Christian metal band ever awesome band

50 Tool Tool Tool is an American progressive metal/alternative metal band, that was formed in 1990. ...read more.

Like it or not, I think Tool has some of the heaviest sections in a few of their songs I've ever heard. I'm talking just straight up, sonic heaviness. Not like a lot of the thrash bands that are being touted as the heaviest when it's really just a wall of almost indistinguishable sound.

Dany Carey is probably the most talented drummer out there with his complicated polyrytnms and weird time signatures. I would submit songs like Hooker With a Penis and Crawl Away for some blistering double bass while others like Lateralus, Eulogy and 46 & 2 have some of the heaviest sections in a song I've heard. HEAVY, not speed, death or thrash. There's a significant distinction in my opinion.

I don't consider speed, thrash or death so much heavy as it is just fast and sometimes a completely indistinguishable wall of sound.

Tool is mad heavy the heaviest prog by far top 20 maybe

53 Anthrax Anthrax Anthrax is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker.

Again, another band that does not belong on the Top 50 in regards to heaviness

They should be in a much higher rate since they're part of the big 4

Exactly I mean I'm a big fan of A7X but I still and will always think dethklok is heavier and should be in the top 10 preferably at 5

Nothing is heavier than Dethklok. They're the strongest cultural force in the world. If you defy the heavieness of Dethklok. You will simply die.

Those riffs somehow are melodic... Yet are very heavy.

Dethklok is a melodic metal band and they are not heavy.

55 Fleshgod Apocalypse Fleshgod Apocalypse Fleshgod Apocalypse is an Italian Death metal band. Formed in 2007, the group resides in Perugia and are currently signed to Willowtip Records and Nuclear Blast. The band is known for their fusion of metal with technical death metal.

Francesco Paoli: the best athlete in the world, and very possibly the best drummer in the world. The guy can blastbeat for five minutes straight, double kicking the whole time, and still make room for some of the most badass fills you could ever hear. And the best part: he does every bit of it at speeds that would scare Slayer off. And for those of you skeptics who would call him a studio creation, he sounds the exact same live as he does on the band's recordings. - AngryByrd

Lets look at Deep Purple in Rock, Scandinavian Nights or Made in Japan. This is very raw! You have to see also the context if their area.. Beatles, Bee Gees time... And than comes Purple with that fast dynamic riffing of Ritchie Blackmore and the drums of Ian Paice and the shouting of Ian Gillan. They are the first Metal band by today's standard. Loudest band in the world 1972...

They're hard rock! There's a difference and therefore Deep Purple don't even belong in the Top 100 heaviest bands

Deep Purple where a very loud, aggressive, dynamic and freaky live band around the early seventies. All bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal wants to play as them. They influed all of them... Iron Maiden, Priest, Saxon, Venom, Metallica and so on...

Deep Purple was heavy of that time. Now they don't fall in this category. - zxm
