88 Dio Dio Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio, after he left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath member, drummer Vinny Appice.

In regards to heaviness, Dio are nowhere near the top 100

How good they are should have nothing to do with their place on the list.

A metal god like this guy deserve a much higher rank then this.

How can anyone listen to Arise or Chaos AD and think Slayer or Metallica are better Heavy Metal bands than Sepultura? Metallica are a bunch of whiny millionaires and Slayer are Nazi glorifying mascara wearing poseurs.

"Roots" is one of the heaviest albums ever... These guys should be in the top ten!

People that compare Metallica to sepultura they just don't know what thrash metal is and are totally brainwashed from commercial propaganda

Sepultura is like top 5 heavy the heaviest thrash bar slayer

91 Testament Testament Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band consists of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and drummer Gene Hoglan.

You can't deny that Testament got heavier over the years. Most bands get mellow over time. Testament should win for raising the bar. Plus, musically their song writing is superior to most. Just listen to Dark Roots Of Earth.

Really heavy and fast. Should be higher up

Listen to the new order.

99 Manowar Manowar Manowar is an American heavy metal band from New York City, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy and mythology.

Definitely one of the heaviest bands out there. I saw them live once, and I felt like the bass obliterated my guts. The drums can be fast as they can be slow, but they never cease to blow your head full of lead. Hail and Kill!

Surprised they weren't on here already, some of the band already high on the list such as Linkin Park are just embarassing, and although I like Cradle of Filth, I wouldn't describe them as heavy.

In this list I prefer Metallica and priest but I really believe thet those guys are the heaviest ever... just hear the die for metal song!

Ridiculous that Dimmu is not in the top ten. The list is HEAVIEST, people, not most popular! I..I

Dimmu Borgir should NOT be this far down!

Maybe not the 1st of all but of course Black METAL is waay heavier than Slayer & Metallica! Some poeple don't know, and also being the heaviest is not always the best
