Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band consists of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and drummer Gene Hoglan.
You can't deny that Testament got heavier over the years. Most bands get mellow over time. Testament should win for raising the bar. Plus, musically their song writing is superior to most. Just listen to Dark Roots Of Earth.
Really heavy and fast. Should be higher up

Manowar is an American heavy metal band from New York City, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy and mythology.
Definitely one of the heaviest bands out there. I saw them live once, and I felt like the bass obliterated my guts. The drums can be fast as they can be slow, but they never cease to blow your head full of lead. Hail and Kill!
Surprised they weren't on here already, some of the band already high on the list such as Linkin Park are just embarassing, and although I like Cradle of Filth, I wouldn't describe them as heavy.
In this list I prefer Metallica and priest but I really believe thet those guys are the heaviest ever... just hear the die for metal song!

Dimmu Borgir should NOT be this far down!
Maybe not the 1st of all but of course Black METAL is waay heavier than Slayer & Metallica! Some poeple don't know, and also being the heaviest is not always the best
