Top Ten Heaviest Metal Bands

The Contenders: Page 7

121 Oceano

This band needs to be higher! Awesome band and the most excellent brutal vocals I've heard in a long time! These guys are so brutal, it puts Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth to shame! Make this band #1 or else!

Oceano NEEDS to be a lot higher, there is absolutely no way in hell that A7X is heavier than Oceano, or any deathcore, death metal, grindcore, thrash metal, black metal or doom metal band for that matter.

122 Mastodon Mastodon Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in early 2000 and composed of bassist Troy Sanders, guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor.

Good band, but not really that heavy compared to Nile or some of the other death metal bands.

Their new stuff no, but their old stuff (specifically Remission) is absolutely brutal. The Jazz influences in Brann's drumming is surprisingly pretty heavy, and the heavy use of pinch harmonics helps as well. And the vocals... So awesome. - AngryByrd

123 Nevermore Nevermore Nevermore is an American progressive metal band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 1991, they are known to incorporate elements from various styles such as power metal, modern hard rock, classic heavy metal and technical thrash metal. The band has been on hiatus since 2011, due to personal issues between more.

These guys are extremely talented, high energy and HEAVY (rememember, people, this is a ranking of HEAVIEST bands! ).

124 Kataklysm Kataklysm Kataklysm is a Canadian death metal band. They call their musical style "northern hyperblast" after an advertisement in M.E.A.T. V 1 Comment

Well not a lot of people know who they are.

126 Overkill Overkill Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. They have gone through many line-up changes, with singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bassist D.D.

Listen to horrorscope, evil never dies, or shred. And their newest album, the electric age is heavier than most metal albums nowadays.

127 Kyuss

Black Sabbath 2.0

128 Atheist Atheist Atheist is a progressive/technical death metal band from Florida, founded in 1984 by drummer Steve Flynn and singer/guitarist Kelly Shaefer.

Why does this list suck so bad, I've put in Obituary, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Suffocation, Autopsy and Atheist because death metal is heavy for real. I know Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are skilled, but it's about heavy, and no genre is heavier than death metal.

Unholy war, No truth, or mother man's main riff

129 Converge

Go listen to Concubine, and Homewrecker, then try to tell me that these guys don't deserve to be in the top ten

130 Sunn O)))

The entirety of their work is just the definition of heavy. I'm not even really a fan, and I love heavy music, but even this band was too heavy for me. - Dorito

131 In The Midst Of Lions
132 Extol Extol Extol are a progressive extreme Christian metal band from Bekkestua, Norway that was formed in 1993. The band is known for playing a variety of different styles of metal which include progressive metal, death metal, black metal and thrash metal.

The name of the band is derived from the Latin: carnifex, meaning "butcher" more.
134 Thergothon

Listen to one of their songs... any of their songs, and you will see how earth crushingly heavy this band is. Pantera? Slayer? Those bands are for milk drinkers! Thergothon will put some hair on your chest! - ThatoneMetalhead

135 Bathory Bathory Bathory was a Swedish Black/Viking Metal band formed in 1983 by Quorthon and Jonas Åkerlund. Bathory's first 4 albums layed the blueprint for Scandinavian Black Metal. Quorthon is often credited with creating the "shrieking" vocal style of Black Metal. Their 5th album, Hammerheart (1990) displayed more.
136 Revenge
137 Attack Attack!

Not THE BEST band you'll ever hear, but they can be heavy at times. The thing I like about them the most is that they stay faithful to Jesus. Awesome band.

138 Antestor

This list is absolutely appalling. The fact that Metallica somehow holds the number one spot is somewhat disheartening. How Cannibal Corpse is lower then Avenged Sevenfold is confusing. Don't let the fact that Antestor is Christian detract from their heaviness. They are one solid band.

Nickel back annihilates my skull and makes my ears bleed with their incredible melodic heaviness

This list is ridiculous. Look I like Metallica and a7x but antestor are WAY heavier. They're black metal for Pete's sake I mean come on. And why is nickel back on this list? They aren't even metal!

The Defeat Of Satan yes, but later albums were not heavy. - GREYBOYY

139 Abiotic

Is heavier than the top 15 at least

140 Necrophagist Necrophagist Necrophagist is a German technical death metal band, founded and fronted by guitarist and vocalist Muhammed Suiçmez. V 1 Comment
