Hi-NRG (pronounced High Energy) is a form of dance music (disco, nu-disco, EDM, techno, etc) that features upbeat tempos, staccato hi-hat rhythms, a 4 on the floor pattern, plus intense vocals & pulsating octave basslines. It originated between the late 1970s & early 1980s, yet is commonly used with synth pop.
