Hollywood Actors that Appear Dumber Than They Are

Dumb? Quite the opposite, these actors play these roles better than most. It's their intention to appear uncomplicated, and we can't get enough of it. These are just ten I thought of to get started, feel free to add any you can think of. There are certainly more examples, and probably better ones...
The Top Ten
1 Marilyn Monroe

Adorable. Her breathless manner of speaking on camera only added to her mystique. She gave the roles credibility, and not coincidentally, beauty. The unquestioned master and innovative genius of these roles. I am in awe of Marilyn.

2 Billy Bob Thornton

Two roles stand out in this regard. Sling Blade and Bad Santa. Not too shabby in A Simple Plan as well.
By the way, Thornton garnered a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his portrayal of mentally impaired Karl Childers in Sling Blade.

3 Ed O'Neil

Al Bundy is a truly iconic character. Love him or hate him, we can't wait to see his latest harebrained scheme fail.

4 Sean William Scott

All his roles (that I've seen) are of the dimwitted types. He has carved himself out a niche, and is a standout in these roles. Haven't seen him in anything in a while though.

5 Aubrey Plaza Aubrey Christina Plaza (born June 26, 1984) is an American actress and comedian. She is best known for her role as April Ludgate on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. After appearing in supporting roles in several feature films, Plaza had her first leading role as Darius Britt in the 2012 film Safety Not Guaranteed.

Very impressive and convincing dumb vibe. Crafty.

6 Dolph Lundgren Hans "Dolph" Lundgren is a Swedish actor, director, screenwriter, producer, martial artist, and chemical engineer.
7 Christina Applegate Christina Applegate is an American actress and dancer who was a child actress, playing the role of Kelly Bundy on the Fox sitcom Married... with Children.

Played Kelly Bundy to perfection.

8 Stan Laurel Stan Laurel, born Arthur Stanley Jefferson (16 June 1890 – 23 February 1965) was an English comic actor, writer and film director, who was part of the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. He appeared with his comedy partner Oliver Hardy in 107 short films, feature films, and cameo roles.

Physical comedy mastermind. Plays the hapless, but lucky rube to perfection

9 Jeff Daniels

Nailed it in Dumb and Dumber. Has long since shown us he is an accomplished and gifted actor.

10 Jessica Simpson Jessica Ann Simpson is an American singer, songwriter, actress, reality television personality and fashion designer who made her debut in 1999. Since that time, Simpson has made many recordings, starred in several television shows, movies and commercials, launched a line of hair and beauty products, and designed fragrances, shoes and handbags for women.

Had the world convinced she was a imbecile. I'm not so sure anymore...I'm not saying Jessica is a brainiac, by any means, but if she was pretending to be that ditzy... Well then, high marks for playing a role.
