Top 10 Incredibly Obvious Features that Certain Video Games Stupidly Forgot to Include

The Top Ten
1 Extra lives - Dick Tracy
2 Properly built arenas for the Battle Mode - Mario Kart 8

Thankfully, this issue got addressed in the Deluxe edition

3 Checkpoints that actually save the boxes you've broken leading up to them - Crash Bandicoot 1

Why, oh why did Slippery Climb, of all levels, have to be one of the ones where this absolute nightmare of a gameplay feature was brought back in this game's N-Sane Trilogy remake?

4 The ability to shoot diagonally, crouch, and aim downward in midair - Metroid NES

REALLY not helping your general image of being technologically behind the times, Nintendo (especially considering the fact that Contra came out around the same time for the exact same system and it allows you to aim in every which way that you could possibly ask for)

5 Adaptive difficulty, as in monsters fighting back progressively harder against you the more of them you decide to kill - Undertale

Well, Undertale is a game whose purpose is that you reflect on your action. You should get as little fun as possible out of killing, that's the premise. Instead, the game wants you to feel dirty.

Yes, I know people want Hard Mode more, but still

6 Lammy Mode - Parappa The Rapper 2

Again, Lammy's game of origin was on the PS1 as opposed to PS2 and still had no problem fitting an alternate Parappa mode into the mix, so what in the actual hell (not the island, of course, wink wink) happened here?

The developers do realize that they've effectively cut the already small amount of length and substance this game has in HALF, right?

7 An actually coherent in-game storyline - Destiny and Destiny 2
8 A way to actually buy Ribbons from stores just in case you accidentally end up having only one of them for the final battle against Safer Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII

If you DO end up only having the one from the snowy mountain area (because the walkthrough forgot to tell you about what the one in the ancient pyramid actually did; hint hint, it prevents status ailments, as in the ones inflicted on all of your characters with a 100% success rate by Supernova) and can't find a fast and easy way to morph enemies into them, then God help you

9 Psychonauts-style beta level in which Neo Cortex explores the inside of Coco's mind, which is a hilariously demented version of Sugar Rush from Wreck-It Ralph - Crash Twinsanity
10 Copy Ability hats - Kirby's Dream Land and Adventure

Sorry, Nintendo, but Kirby just isn't the same without them

But at least they added them in the later games.

The Contenders
11 A way to not make Psychic types completely break the game - Generation One Pokemon
12 The original 2002 title's soundtrack - Ratchet & Clank 2016

Actually probably one of the better video game soundtracks of all time, believe it or not

13 Classic Controller support - Metroid: Other M
14 Strafing - Ratchet & Clank 1
15 Being able to shrink down to ant size, sneak inside people's ear canals and enter their brains while they're asleep - Zelda: Minish Cap
16 Spin Dashing - Sonic 1
17 LGBT Support - Tomodachi Life
18 Shooting mechanics that are more than just barely functional when not using VATS - Fallout 3
19 Um Jammer Lammy also being packaged into it - Parappa The Rapper Remastered
20 Actually improved gameplay like what the sequels had - Parappa The Rapper Remastered
21 A way to skip through the cutscenes during combat - Final Fantasy VII
22 Actual save rooms - Metroid NES
23 Metroid Prime as part of the Metroid canon - Metroid: Other M
24 Samus consistently playing the role of herself and not Bella Swan from Twilight - Metroid: Other M
25 Auto-targeting system that actually works somewhat reliably - Jak 2 and Jak 3
