63 Kraftwerk Kraftwerk Kraftwerk is a German electronic music band formed by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider in 1970 in Düsseldorf. The band was fronted by both Hütter and Schneider until Schneider's departure in 2008.

Kraftwerk should be number 2 after the Beatles since every Pop, techno, rap and mainstream musical artist can thank this band for modern mixing, harmonizing and experimentation of eclectic and synthesized sounds. You wouldn't have turn tables and sound samples without Kraftwerk. They didn't just break the mould they created it.

74 Elton John Elton John

Definitely underrated in terms of his influence on pop especially in the 70s. He is the key musician that made the use of piano so relavent in the rock and roll scene, as before that piano was considered at best niche. Up to this day he continues to influence many musicians especially new talents to give them the confidenece to pursue their goals (one example is how he kept guiding Eminem, and also trained Adele to be able to sing live without getting nervous).
His melodies are timeless and provided lots of inspiration for artists who want to master how to create very memorable hooks. His influence on British culture has been recognized as he is the first musician to receive the Brit Icon award.
For me whenever I think of piano rock and roll, I think of him first and foremost. He knows how to really control the flow of piano with the flow of his singing and the matches it expertly with the flow of the song. Any piano pop song I always compare it to his works as the gold standard.
