My favorite valve game is not half life 2, (It's TF2) But I have played a little bit of half life 2, (I plan on finshing it.) and see why its number 1.

Basically regarded as the best valve game (my favourite is TF2), this game is a perfect blend of FPS and puzzles.

This game has brilliant mechanics, brilliant balance (eventually) and a brilliant community (excluding kiddies).
