I know a lot of people think this song is heavy metal. But actually the song isn't a metal song. People think this song is metal is because of the heavy riff. But the riff is more likely a punk rock riff more than heavy metal. This riff is heavier than punk rock riffs, but heavy metal has heavier guitar riffs, the strumming technique in metal is slow powered and it focuses more on changing chords quickly (usually)

I agree with zxm - this isn't a metal song. Zxm focused on guitar style and he is absolutely right. Vocal style and vocal line aren't metal either and overall, nothing is metal here. And by the way, the song is about drug addiction/drug abuse and suicide - I can't say this is inspirational.
