Most Interesting Metal Events In 2013

A lot of interesting things happened in 2013 in the metal community.
The Top Ten
1 Tim Lambesis arrested in murder-for-hire plot against ex-wife

This definitely shocked me the most. I would have never thought that Tim Lambesis, a Christian, would do something like that. Well, at least he's not Ian Watkins. I still like As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine and Pyrithion and I really hope Tim gets back to making music soon.

2 Joey Jordison leaves Slipknot

He is seen by a lot as the driving force of Slipknot, and it really sucks to know that after so many years and only 4 albums (5 if you count MFKR) Joey left the band. I'm confident, however, that they'll find a replacement and move on. There's a lot of drummers out there that are in my opinion are far better than Joey. Sorry if I offend any die-hard Slipknot fans.

3 Jeff Hanneman dies Jeffrey John "Jeff" Hanneman was an American musician, best known as a founding member of the American thrash metal band Slayer.

Sadly, one of the greatest thrash metal guitarists was lost this year. Shame too. He wrote some of Slayer's greatest songs.

4 Chi Cheng dies

I honestly thought he would make it. He fought though. He got in that horrific car accident in 2008. 5 years. It took 5 years for him to submit. He fought for a while. Sadly he lost.

5 Howard Jones' new band "Devil You Know"

I'm pumped to hear their debut. Shut It Down is an amazing song. I'm glad that Howard is still making epic music with his powerful voice.

6 Black Sabbath release first album since 1995 "13"

Ozzy and Geezer came back for a great album. The most legendary heavy metal band of all time.

Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy and Black Sabbath all the way! Great album.

7 Carcass release first album since 1996 "Surgical Steel"
8 Lemmy's health issues

Lemmy has had a lot of health issues this year that caused Motörhead to cancel a bunch of shows, but nonetheless, they still released a great album. Lemmy is god!

9 Dave Lombardo fired from Slayer

Dammit! Dave has done some of the best work with Slayer! Oh well. Paul Bostaph is a good drummer anyway.

10 Randy Blythe found not guilty for manslaughter charges

Randy is a good guy and it's good to know thy he's free. It was also nice of him to visit the victim's parents and apologize. What a great dude.
