Top 10 Bands with the Least Creative Names

The Top Ten

1 The The The The are an English post-punk band. They have been active in various forms since 1979, with singer/songwriter Matt Johnson being the only constant band member.

You actually have to be very creative to come up with a so uncreative name.

That's the weirdest name for a band.

Even The Band sounds better.

Close battle. There should also be a "Band Band" to complete the picture.

Wait, seriously? This exists?

2 The Band The Band was a Canadian-American roots rock group formed in 1965 . Which originally consisting of Rick Danko (bass guitar, double bass, fiddle, vocals), Levon Helm (drums, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophones, trumpet), Richard Manuel (piano, drums, vocals) and Robbie Robertson more.

LOL what kind of band would name themselves "The Band"? Does that give people attention?

They tried out a lot of names, but people kept calling them Bob Dylan and The Band, thus the name, so it's not because of the lack of creativity.

My teacher likes this.

I knew that The Band exists, but I didn't include it in the list on purpose because of the history of the name (formerly labelled as Bob Dylan and The Band)

3 fun. Fun is an American indie pop band based in New York City. It was formed by Nate Ruess, former lead singer of The Format, with Andrew Dost of Anathallo and Jack Antonoff of Steel Train.

Sounds like Fun

4 Death Death was an American death metal band formed in 1983 by Chuck Schuldiner. Death is considered to be one of the most influential bands in heavy metal and a pioneering force in death metal. Its debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, has been widely regarded as the first death metal record, while the band's more.

Death is a very suitable name for a pioneering death metal band. In the context of the emerging death metal scene in the 80s it was a great name.

5 The Animals The Animals were an English band of the 1960s, formed in Newcastle upon Tyne, during the early part of the decade.

What's wrong with "The Animals"? It was meant to reflect the raw nature of their live performances.

6 MAGIC! Magic!, originally stylized as MAGIC!, is a Canadian reggae fusion band based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Sounds magical

7 Tool Tool is an American progressive/alternative/post-metal band, that was formed in 1990. more.

I think there's actually supposed to be a meaning behind this one. Something about using their music as a "tool" to achieve some higher mental state. I think they came up with the meaning after the name.

Great band but the name is too simplistic for me

8 Trio

Yeah, this is pretty dull

How many members are there? Perhaps we’ll never know.

9 KISS Kiss is an American hard rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and the band's original manager, Lew Linet.
10 Anal C*** Anal C*** was an American grindcore band founded by vocalist Seth Putnam in 1988 in Newton, Massachusetts. The band is known for their highly offensive lyrics which included themes of misogyny, homophobia, racism, Nazism, antisemitism, and schadenfreude (ridicule of the unfortunate). Their music has more.

It just sounds stupid.

The Contenders

11 RED Red is an American rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2002 by brothers guitarist Anthony Armstrong and bassist Randy Armstrong, with lead vocalist Michael Barnes.

I added this item after creating the list (together with The The). Names with colors usually turn out good (see the list of Best Bands with Colorful Names). But it's already strange that the name consists of one adjective. One-word names are usually nouns.

They’re still fighting the blues.

12 Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich

Oh no! They forgot to mention me!

13 ABBA ABBA were a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972 by members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

It may not be the most creative band name in the universe, but it's way better and more creative than their original name: Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid.

14 The Kids

Punk band from Belgium.

15 The Doors The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore.

Shortening of "The Doors of Perception"..

16 Helloween Helloween is a German power metal band founded in 1984 in Hamburg, Northern Germany. The band is a pioneering force in the power metal genre, and their second and third studio albums, Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part I and Part II, are considered masterpieces of the genre.

Umm...I actually think this is among the most creative.

17 Scorpions Scorpions are a German rock band formed in 1965 in Hanover by Rudolf Schenker. Since the band's inception, its musical style has ranged from hard rock to heavy metal.

I don't see a problem with creativity here.

18 Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin was an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of Robert Plant (Vocal), Jimmy Page (Guitar), John Paul Jones (Bass, Keyboard) and John Bonham (Drums). The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition more.

It seems like the most famous bands are added to every list for no reason.

I agree that they don't really belong here. They do have some of the least creative album titles among music acts I can think of though.

Actually, this is a great name...not something I could come up with!

It's not uncreative.

19 Sick Puppies Sick Puppies is an Australian rock band, formed in 1997. Sick Puppies rose to prominence in 2006 when their song "All the Same" was uploaded along with a video to YouTube.

I think it's creative. It's another question if the name is good or not

This name really is bad, but what's the problem with its creativity?

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of this name either.

Sick puppies?

20 BTS BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band formed in Seoul in 2013.

HIM means His Infernal Majesty. I would say it's somewhat creative.

24 Metallica Metallica is an American Thrash Metal band formed in 1981 . The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman". more.

Nothing against them but it's just a really uncreative name, literally named after the genre

Rockopolis, Poptopia, Metallica
