Top Ten Least Famous Latin American Countries

I have already made one for Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania, so let's make one for the final continent, but I will make one for Latin America as whole though since it would be hard to just do for South America, and North America (USA, Canada and Mexico) are all well-known. I will maybe do one for the caribbean countries as well in the future
The Top Ten
1 Belize Belize is a country on the eastern coast of Central America. It is the only country in Central America whose official language is English, though Belizean Creole and Spanish are also commonly spoken.

Belize is quite an unknown country, it's very small and Guatemala took most of its space so it's about to fall of the atlantic ocean. This is the least famous country in latin america in my opinion

2 Suriname Suriname, officially known as the Republic of Suriname, is a sovereign state on the northeastern Atlantic coast of South America. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north, French Guiana to the east, Guyana to the west and Brazil to the south. At just under 165,000 square kilometers (64,000 square miles), it is the smallest sovereign state in South America. Suriname has a population of approximately 575,990, most of whom live on the country's north coast, in and around the capital and largest city, Paramaribo.

Of the south american countries Suriname is the least known, some people even think it's located in Africa. It's squeezed in between french guiana and Guyana, they drive on the left side of the road and they even speak Dutch

3 French Guiana French Guiana, officially called Guiana, is an overseas department and region of France, located on the north Atlantic coast of South America in the Guyanas.

Not really a country but I recognize it as a country. Well it's quite obvious that this country in unknown and it belongs to France.

4 Guyana Guyana officially the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, is a sovereign state on the northern mainland of South America. Guyana is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Brazil to the south and southwest, Suriname to the east, and Venezuela to the west. With 215,000 square kilometers (83,000 square miles). Guyana is one of the smallest countries in South America. The region known as "the Guianas" consists of the large shield landmass north of the Amazon River and east of the Orinoco River known as the "land of many waters". There are nine indigenous tribes residing in Guyana: the Wai Wai, Macushi, Patamona, Lokono, Kalina, Wapishana, Pemon, Akawaio and Warao. Historically dominated by the ...read more.

Not as unknown as French Guiana or Suriname but not many people now of it still.

5 Nicaragua Nicaragua, officially the Republic of Nicaragua, is the largest country in the Central American isthmus.

The flag is quite similar to El Salvador's and Honduras but it looks quite angry unlike those two. The country itself I believe is safer and rather the opposite though. I think that's what makes it so unknown

I'm from there ( I just born there and moved to canada so I guess I'm not really Nicaraguan at all, I don't even speak nicaraguan spanish dialect.)

6 Paraguay Paraguay, officially the Republic of Paraguay, is a landlocked country in central South America, bordered by Argentina to the south and southwest, Brazil to the east and northeast, and Bolivia to the northwest.

One of two South American countries without a coast along with Bolivia, I think Paraguay get's way less attention though because Bolivia is bigger and used to have a coast. Paraguay has to go on a river instead to reach the coast

7 Bolivia Bolivia, officially known as the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is located in western-central South America.

Such an interesting yet unknown country. To the west is Collas which is located in the mountains and the two capital cities are there, and to the east is Cambas which takes up two thirds of the country and is located in the jungle

The only interesting fact about this country is they lost its shoreline because of Chile.

8 Uruguay Uruguay, officially the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, is a country in South America. It shares borders with Argentina to its west and southwest and Brazil to its north and northeast; while bordering the Río de la Plata to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast. It is part of the Southern Cone region of South America. Uruguay covers an area of approximately 181,034 square kilometers (69,898 sq mi) and has a population of an estimated 3.51 million, of whom 2 million live in the metropolitan area of its capital and largest city, Montevideo.

Arguably the safest country in South America and safer than the US as well. Yet it doesn't recieve too muh attention, which goes to Argentina and Chile instead

9 El Salvador El Salvador, officially known as the Republic of El Salvador, holds the distinction of being the smallest and the most densely populated country in Central America.

The country is renowned for its numerous volcanoes, delectable cuisine, and charming small towns and villages... read more

The one country with the second highest homicide rate in the world. The only higher is Honduras, thus it's not nearly as known as its bigger neighbour. I love the flag though

10 Costa Rica Costa Rica, officially the Republic of Costa Rica, is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Ecuador to the south of Cocos Island.

People consider it to be the safest central american country and I do have a friend from there so I guess it's right, however Panama getse all the spotlight for being the gateway to South America

I would disagree with anyone who voted here. It is an extremely popular tourist destination which most people have heard of.
