Top Ten Least Famous Oceania Countries

Oh yes, Oceania, the one continent with so many archipelagos, or better known as island countries with many islands, not many people know of them, here are the least known countries in Oceania.
The Top Ten
1 Nauru Nauru, officially the Republic of Nauru and formerly known as Pleasant Island, is an island country in Micronesia in the Central Pacific. It's the third smallest country in the world and the least visited country in the world as well. Its nearest neighbour is Banaba Island in Kiribati, 300 km (190 mi) to the east. It further lies northwest of Tuvalu, 1,300 km (810 mi) northeast of the Solomon Islands, east-northeast of Papua New Guinea, southeast of the Federated States of Micronesia and south of the Marshall Islands. With only a 21 km2 (8.1 sq mi) area, Nauru is the third-smallest country in the world behind Vatican City and Monaco, making it the smallest republic. Its population of about 10,000 ...read more.

Duh, the third smallest sovereign state in the entire world! It is the smallest when excluding Vatican City and Monaco, and those countries are kinda famous for being so small, Nauru on the other hand is barely even known it doesn't even have a capital city, just one city which is called Yaren, languages spoken are english and nauran. It's even just one island it consists of, this country easly tops the list

2 Tonga Tonga, officially the Kingdom of Tonga, is a Polynesian sovereign state and archipelago comprising 169 islands of which 36 are inhabited. The archipelago's total surface area is about 750 square kilometres (290 sq mi) scattered over 700,000 square kilometres (270,000 sq mi) of the southern Pacific Ocean.Tonga stretches across approximately 800 kilometres (500 mi) in a north–south line. It is surrounded by Fiji and Wallis and Futuna (France) to the northwest; Samoa to the northeast; New Caledonia (France) and Vanuatu to the west; Niue (the nearest foreign territory) to the east; and Kermadec (New Zealand) to the southwest. Tonga is about 1,800 kilometres (1,100 mi) from New Zealand's North ...read more.

I can't even think of anything this country may be known for, sure some celebrities may be frmo here but I don't eve know any. The flag is kinda similar to Switzerland's as they share the same colors and have the cross in them, difference is tohugh that the colors are reversed and the "Switzerland" part is only at the top left whereas everything surrounding it is red

3 Palau

The flag is similar to the Bangladesh flag and Japanese flag, except while those two countries both had a red circle although different background colors (green or white), Palau has an yellow circle, with a extremly bright blue background, also an underrated country

4 Samoa The Independent State of Samoa, commonly known as Samoa and formerly known as Western Samoa, is a Unitary Parliamentary Republic with eleven administrative divisions.

A similar case to Tonga in which there's barely anything that is known about it, not even I know too much about it. The stars to the top left are actually the same pattern and look as the ones in the Australian flag, and I just realized it now as I was making the list, a very underrated country

5 Solomon Islands Solomon Islands is a sovereign country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania lying to the east of Papua New Guinea and northwest of Vanuatu and covering a land area of 28,400 square kilometres.

For some reason I thought this island was called Samoa Islands back in the day, well, I know what it is called now, this Melanesian country unlike Fiji and Vanuatu isn't even that popular of a tourist attraction despite being way bigger than both of those countries and the beautiful nature. The flag is one of my favourites of the continent and from the pictures this country seems very beautiful

6 Vanuatu Vanuatu, officially the Republic of Vanuatu, is a Pacific island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago, which is of volcanic origin, is 1,750 kilometres (1,090 mi) east of northern Australia, 540 kilometres (340 mi) northeast of New Caledonia, east of New Guinea, southeast of the Solomon Islands, and west of Fiji. ...read more.

This country is mostly just known for being a popular tourist destination, along with Fiji, it's kinda sad, as I find it to be one of the most interesting on the planet! The most dangerous country in the world when it comes to natural disasters, and there's tons of volcanoes there as well, as well as forests. Three biggest islands are Espiritu Santo, Malekula and Efates. There's more islands as well, one of the other ones being Ambrym. Capital is Port-Vila and is located on the third biggest island: Efates, president is Tallis Obed Moses and currency is Vatu. Such an interesting country, it was also the first country in Oceania that I actaully did study and try to learn a bit about

7 Kiribati Kiribati, officially the Republic of Kiribati, is an island nation in the central Pacific Ocean. The permanent population is over 119,000 (2020), more than half of whom live on Tarawa atoll. The state comprises 32 atolls and one raised coral island, Banaba. They have a total land area of 811 square kilometres (313 square miles) and are dispersed over 3.5 million km2 (1.4 million sq mi). ...read more.

In my opinion Kiribati has one of the most beautiful national flags of all time, that sunset and sea and bird and red sky is just so gorgeous! It truly symbolizes how beautiful this country probably is

8 Federated States of Micronesia

The federated states of Micronesia is sure a confusing name, some people even just call it Micronesia, that's wrong though because Micronesia includes this country, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau and Nauru as well some areas that belong to the US and France I believe, this archipelago just consists of so many small islands it's hard to count them all

9 Tuvalu Tuvalu, formerly known as the Ellice Islands, is a Polynesian island nation located in the Pacific Ocean, midway between Hawaii and Australia.

The only thing this country is known for is that it is currently sinking, that's it, sadly. Flag is similar to Fiji's but with yello stars on it instead of a shield

10 Marshall Islands The Marshall Islands, officially the Republic of the Marshall Islands, is an island country located near the equator in the Pacific Ocean, slightly west of the International Date Line.

Well, it's known for the fact that one of the islands is destroyed by radioton sadly, and I think that's it, I love the flag though. Why did the US have to destroy some of the islands with nuclear weapons?
