Top 10 Least Iconic Characters that Were Made Playable in Super Smash Bros.

The Top Ten
1 Corrin - Fire Emblem

No offense, Nintendo, but this right here really is an EXTREMELY niche franchise for you to be making so many of the characters from into Smash Bros playables (also, can anyone say "too many swordfighters")

Just another FE character, and one of the more forgettable ones, in my opinion.

2 Ice Climbers - Ice Climber

The fact that they came from one of the NES's weakest first-party games doesn't help

Literally no one knew who they were until Super Smash Bros Melee.

3 Robotic Operating Buddy - Gyromite

Completely useless NES peripheral that looked cool but did nothing else

4 Bayonetta - Bayonetta Bayonetta, real name Cereza, is a fictional character and protagonist of the video game Bayonetta and its sequel, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Sega and Nintendo respectively.

Great character, sure, but she's only appeared in two main-series games outside of Smash Bros, and said main-series games weren't exactly earth-shatteringly revolutionary classics like Super Metroid and the Mario World duology either

I didn't even know who she was until she came out in Smash

5 Wii Fit Trainer - Wii Fit

Apart from the fact that she became one of the official Super Smash Bros sex symbols, there is absolutely nothing remarkable about her in the slightest

Nothing iconic about this character.

Wow! So cold but so sexy girl.

6 Olimar - Pikmin Olimar is a fictional character from Nintendo's Pikmin video game series created by Shigeru Miyamoto.

Technically a Gamecube mascot of sorts, but one that was easily FAR outclassed by Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil 4), Hyper-Realistic-Looking Samus (Metroid Prime), Paper Mario (The Thousand-Year Door), Wario (Wario Ware and Wario World), FLUDD (Super Mario Sunshine), Captain Falcon (F-Zero GX and Smash Bros Melee), Link (Ocarina Of Time, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess), and probably even Vacuum Luigi (Luigi's Mansion) in terms of popularity
(not to imply that his games weren't good, but by Nintendo standards and especially Super Smash Bros roster inclusion standards, they weren't exactly the most widely known of things, to say the least)

7 Mii Brawler - Super Smash Bros. 4
8 Mr. Game & Watch - Game & Watch Series Mr. Game & Watch is a 2D generic stick figure-styled silhouette character, created by Nintendo and an amalgamation of the Game & Watch handheld consoles.

1) He is literally just a silhouette of a Diary Of A Wimpy Kid stick figure

2) Barely anyone even remembers the console that his moves came from
3) The console that his moves came from isn't even worth remembering anyway

9 Dark Pit - Kid Icarus

Kid Icarus Uprising made the regular Pit decently iconic, I suppose,
but absolutely no one, generally speaking, cared about Dark Pit back in his debut appearance, and I sincerely doubt that their attitude toward his Smash appearance was any different

Nothing more then a pallet swap with few minor changes.

10 Isabelle - Animal Crossing Isabelle is a character from the "Animal Crossing" series. She first appeared in "Animal Crossing: New Leaf". In the game, she assists the player with their duties as mayor. As a dog, Isabelle is a friendly and helpful companion to the player throughout their mayoral journey.
The Contenders
11 Piranha Plant - Super Mario Bros. The Piranha Plant, known as the Pakkun Flower in Japan, is a plant species from the Mario franchise which usually appears as a leafy green stalk topped with a white-spotted red or green globe, with a maw lined with sharp teeth reminiscent of piranhas.

This was a huge surprise.

12 Villager - Animal Crossing
13 Shulk - Xenoblade Chronicles Shulk is a fictional character and the protagonist from Monolith Soft's 2010 role-playing video game Xenoblade Chronicles, part of their overarching Xeno series of video games.
14 Richter Belmont - Castlevania
15 Palutena - Kid Icarus Palutena is a character from Kid Icarus (1987), Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters (1991), and Kid Icarus: Uprising (2012). She is also a playable character in Super Smash Brothers for 3DS and WiiU (2014), and in Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate (2018). She is the goddess of light and ruler of Angel Land, ...read more.
16 Joker - Persona 5

I wouldn't be surprised if NOBODY knew of this series before the Smash announcement: I certainly didn't, and something has to be REALLY obscure for me not to know about it.

At this point, Nintendo might as well just add Dangan Ronpa characters

17 Lucina - Fire Emblem Lucina is one of the main characters in Fire Emblem Awakening, as well as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Her most notable feature is her love for her father.
18 Simon Belmont - Castlevania
19 Pit - Kid Icarus Pit is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Kid Icarus series, first appearing in Kid Icarus for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986 and later appearing in Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy in 1991.

I don't know why this isn't at number 1. Sure, Ice Climbers may not have been super well known, but they were still from a classic nes game liked by some of the less casual Nintendo fans. Before Brawl, there was only two Kid Icarus games that nobody really cared for or knew about.

20 Bowser Jr. - Super Mario Sunshine Bowser Jr., or sometimes simply Jr., is a video game character who appears in Nintendo's Mario franchise as the secondary antagonist. He is the youngest son of the series' primary antagonist, Bowser.
21 Hero - Dragon Quest
22 Chrom - Fire Emblem
23 Pichu - Pokémon Pichu is an Electric type Baby Pokémon introduced in Gen. 2. It evolves into Pikachu. It is in the in undiscovered egg group, since it's a baby Pokémon. It is No. 172 in the Pokedex. It can be called a joke character in Super Smash Bros. Melee, because of its awful stats and weak moves. After its comeback in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it is considered one of the best characters in the game.

We already had Pickachu why add another look a like who actually damages itself every time it attacks.

He is unnecessary since Pikachu is in Smash and he is way more iconic.

24 Sans - Undertale Sans or Sans the Skeleton is a character in the 2015 RPG Undertale created by Toby Fox. He is a lazy, pun-loving skeleton who is a supporting protagonist in the "pacifist" and "neutral" routes of Undertale, and a heroic antagonist/final boss of the "genocide" route. He is known for his incredibly difficult boss fight, bad puns, and the phrases "geeetttt dunked on!!!" and "you're gonna have a bad time." He is also named after the font "comic sans." Known for also being Ness from the Mother series. (known as Earthbound in Western territories.)

Granted, he comes from an absolute Internet meme phenomenon that is undeniably THE most immensely iconic and critically acclaimed Nintendo-Lite game to ever come out of the indie scene (and also genuinely by far one of the best as far as its Pacifist Run is concerned, whether or not you happen to personally agree)...
but seriously, give me a break; his game (although shockingly good indeed) is a massively overhyped and predictable T.V.-trope-fest (that he isn't even the actual main character of) that is only about four to five years old at the moment (barely even older than Persona 5, which is also a borderline visual novel game) and is almost more infamous than it is actually famous (mainly due to its obnoxiously arrogant fanbase, as always), and the character himself barely even has any material for a non-stupidly-overpowered moveset whatsoever (which is part of the reason why he's actually just a Mii Gunner costume, along with him naturally being too lazy to actually make a ...more

25 Incineroar - Pokémon Incineroar, known in Japan as Gaogaen, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
