Lebanon

Lebanon was established in 1920 and gained its independence in 1943. For a couple of years it has lacked a president; yet, on October 31st, 2016, it got president Michel Aoun . It is known as the Phoenix of the world since it has sunken under the ocean and has been destroyed by wars 7 times . In advance, it is also called Paris or Switzerland or the Arab World/Middle East due to its unique tourism, history, Languages, people, and religions .

Lebanon is situated in the middle of the fertile crescent on the eastern Mediterranean sea overlooking Europe, North Africa and Asia. It can also be seen as the center of the world by holding Asia and Africa and Europe together like a bridge or a tie or even a knot . Syria occupies it from the North and East while the Mediterranean Sea occupies it from the West and Israel from the South . It contains 15 rivers at an area of 10,452 sq km with a coast of the length 210 km .

Beirut is the capital city of Lebanon and the largest city with a population of 2 million people in its metro boarders. Historically, Byblos is the oldest Lebanese city dating back to 5000 BC (7000 years old) it served as the capital of the Phoenician Empire, which is ancient Lebanon. Tripoli is Lebanon's seconds largest city and is referred to as 'The Capital of the North'. Sidon is Lebanon's second oldest city, dating back to 4000 BC. Baalbeck is the only non-Italian city in the world where Roman temples of Jupiter and other Gods have been fully preserved.

Lebanon is best known for the beautiful nature that God has gifted it, the great food, the nightlife, the four seasons, the fact that one could ski and swim on the same day, and the ancient history that dates back to 9000 years. Nevertheless, Lebanon has 18 religious sects mostly occupied by Christian and Muslim religions like Sunni, Maronite,Catholic, Shia ... etc .

Moreover, Lebanon is a trilingual country due to the French rule after World War 1; therefore, Lebanese people are one of the only people who speak three official and mandatory languages which are English, Arabic, and French . Nonetheless, many tend to speak Armenian since many Armenians migrated to Lebanon after the Armenian genocide, so it is an additional language in Lebanon .

The Lebanese Flag is also diverse from other flags since it holds deep meaning to Lebanon and its people . To explain, the red color represents the pure blood shed by millions of soldiers who fight for Lebanon for liberty and freedom, as well as the white color represents the faith and peace between the various religious sects . Last but never least it the green cedar tree respresenting prosperity and immortality of the Lebanese people .

To add, many barely know that the Lebanese are the ancient Phoenicians who were famous for inventing glass, dye, and the alphabet used today in Latin and Greek . Can you believe it? Also, the Lebanese or Phoenicians were proven to have reached America even before Christopher Colombus did .

Yes! To add, Lebanon has been ranked by Travel+Leisure, a very famous travel and destinations website 1st place in food as of 2016 . However, Lebanon is not only renowned for its beautiful nature and history, but also its beautiful people . Therefore, hurry up and catch a flight to Lebanon as soon as you can! As soon as you arrive the first words you will hear are " Ahla W Sahla " (أهلا وسهلا), meaning "welcome here" with a big pot of Tabboule, Hummus, and Special Lebanese Shawarma to your liking .
