Top 10 Best Light Novels

The Top Ten
1 Frozen Teardrop
2 Saint Seiya: Gigantomachia
3 Neon Genesis Evangelion: Anima
4 The Empty Box and the Zeroth Maria

Simply put, a masterpiece. Seriously, I read all available volumes (1-6) in 3 nights. Every day I'd be excited for getting to read the rest of the series. I then spent an excruciating time waiting for the last volume to be released and translated. When it finally got an official translated I went and bought it and had it shipped to my country immediately. Can not recommend this series enough.

This LN is amazing. Within the past year and a half I have read about 50-75 different LNs and none could come even close to affecting me as much emotionally as HakoMari. Its like a painting painted by one of those performer guys who paint upside-down. You don't know what the hell is going on or how the story ends until the author finishes his last stroke flips the painting and all the pieces just fit together perfectly creating a masterpiece.

5 Monogatari Series

9/10 I am looking for more action, but other than that, it's a masterpiece. Great character development. Story revolves around a vampire of sorts.

Simply put, an amazing ride with great characters. Truly a story made with love.

The best light-noel I've ever read and definitely the best anime adaptation of a light novel

6 Rurouni Kenshin: Voyage to the Moon World
7 One Piece: Defeat Him! the Pirate Ganzack!
8 Overlord

Basically, read this. You won't be dissapointed. Go on, just read Part 1 of Chapter 1. You'll love it.
It's got everything you can imagine and more. Power, women, realism, politics, not vanilla content. Want a generic hero type who works hard and does the right thing? That's Climb. Want a ruthless butcher of humans that "friendship! and Justice!" can't overcome? There's Clementine.
For anyone who's into the psychological aspect, this has it in spades as well and for those who want to see Momon find everything he desperately desired and more, read the twitter side story set in an alternate universe.

9 Konoha Hiden
10 Oregairu

Should be in top 1 :) the best, though the author should end it because the wait is seriously killing me. I have to forget about it till the next book or else it will stick on my mind and stop me from doing anything seriously.

Started my Light Novel reading with this... I have read 10 LNs and this is the best Light Novel so far!

Oregairu is the best. I have reading light novel 10 years and Oregairu give me the best experience

The Contenders
11 Spice & Wolf

Explaining economics/mercantile workings through the power of Japanese fantasy light novel set in a pseudo-medieval light novel? Check!

A slower paced story filled with a wondrous series of believable events, savourable timelines and developed characters.

Amazing progression, wonderful unforgettable characters, keeps you hooked

12 A Certain Magical Index

Kamachi Kazuma is probably a higher life form that decsended from the high heavens. To be able to keep me interested to the point of impatience is a miracle only he has accomplished. That's just how interesting and amazing this light novel is.
I strongly recommend this light novel to anyone who is willing to give it a chance!

This is arguably one of the most engaging light novels dealing with the theme of magic vs science. The best thing is that it becomes more loveable and intricate with each passing volume.

13 Fullmetal Alchemist: The Land of Sand
14 Jobless Reincarnation - It will be All Out if I Go to Another World

Great novel, mostly thanks to the strong characters. Each one is flawed but in a very humane or endearing kind of way, especially the protagonist that goes from being a useless NEET to risking his life over and over for the sake of his family.

One of the few novels where I liked the character for his obvious flaws. Not the best novel ever, but very readable if you can get over the MC being a cartoonish pervert.

By far the best isekai out there. Many isekai leave a lot to be desired but this one was executed beautifully. The main character and the supporting cast are all unique and memorable and the plot makes sense...kind of.

15 No Game No Life

Exceptional series. I have read each book multiple times and watched the anime, and I can't recommend it enough. The characters and the writing is exceptional, and their genius is portrayed flawlessly.

Lazy hero that performs extremely well when it counts.
If this was a game character, he'd have a pure intelligence build and 1point for other stats.
Extremely good story, 10/10 would recommend!

Read every available volume (1-7) in 3 weeks. I love the logical genius built into the scenarios the MC's have to get through in order to win.

16 The Rising of the Shield Hero

Definitely love the 2 MC. And I absolutely love the MC's personality. It's rarely hard to see such a personality that was good to being twisted but still maintained the good qualities. And I like the fact that he knows what he's doing and won't hesitate to do it, even if it's right or wrong, nice or cruel. He doesn't even let the girls correct him, bully him or tell him what to do which is what I desperately wanted because, dude, where's your pride as a man?.-. (unlike some other MCs like Kojou or Shidou). He can be caring and kind but can also be twisted (again, which I love :3) and incredibly dangerous at the same time.

17 Bleach: Letters from the Other Side
18 Konosuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!

Want to take a break from all the reading that you've been doing but still want to read anyway? Read Konosuba! It will give you a good laugh!
BUT for the anime, I recommend you watch it at any time. Feel bored? watch Konosuba. Just got dumped by your girl? watch Konosuba. Got scared from watching horror? watch Konosuba. Konosuba is the answer to all your questions.

Instantly hooked. The plot continues to astound me as it unfolds and I absolutely love all of the very well developed characters.

Definitely worth reading if you have some spare time to waste. It's hilarious and has great characters.

19 Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

Interesting approach to "transported into another world" LN by Tappei Nagatsuki. Main character, who lived as NEET in Japan, suddenly finds himself in a parallel world and has to figure out his situation. A lot of humor, drama, magic, mystery and suffering (physical and mental). Series is not finished yet, but worth picking up and reading. First 3 story arcs were adapted as an anime in 2016.

I've always been a huge fan of this, and will always think this is the best. It's just such an AMAZING story I can't describe it with words. The best thing in my life that happened to me was finding this masterpiece, and I don't think anything is going to beat this.

20 Legendary Moonlight Sculptor

Haven't gotten too far yet, just at chapter 50-ish but I'm hooked!
Protagonist invests a lot of effort and planning to achieve his goals. EPIC family values(the sort of self-sacrifice that should be taught in schools). Care for your family, care for your friends, understand your and your allies limitations and adjust accordingly, don't blame allies if they did their best. A whole lot of values to be found here. I recommend reading this to your children as a bedtime story! 8.5/10 so far!

A refreshing twist on game element light novels, it has a very real vibe to it, even though many light novels have a similar theme they're all related to transmigration etc. Giving the protagonist an edge over the others. Legendary moonlight sculptor though, has a refreshing change where the protag has good instincts

21 Knight's & Magic
22 Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases
23 Sword Art Online

Although it has its flaws like everything else, SAO has a lot of heart and interesting things to say. The first few volumes are fun, but the story really picks up after Mother's Rosario. The Alicization arc is superb, with a well-realized world. SAO Progressive is also wonderful, with more details about Aincrad. I love the series.

It's the gateway novel to LITRPG genre, one of the novels that popularized it all amongst the masses and it's well enough to be REreadable (you can read it again after reading it the first time and still enjoy it). Charaters are well enough written to not just be bad tropes.

24 The Irregular at Magic High School

Based on a HARD MAGIC SYSTEM(Magic system is extremely detailed, well thought out and consistent all throughout)
If you want to know what the world would be like if magic existed in the modern age (approximately 100 years from now), then this would ALMOST be the perfect fantasy novel for you!
The early volumes lean on an incest-ish vibe but if you can get through that, it's pretty epic. It now is on It's 30th Volume! That's proof enough of its epic-ness.

Relatable though a fantasy work. Not over the top action and story makes it (for me) the best thing I ever read.

25 Fate/Zero

A great story that made me question what it means to be a hero. Arturia, Iskandar and Gilgamesh really stole the show.

"You Killed (Servant)! You're not even human!
