Biggest Contenders for the 2025 Razzie Awards

Well, it was a good run. After a couple of years where video game adaptations came and showed how good they can be, a movie like Borderlands needs to return and make all of us remember the days of the 1993 Mario Bros. movie, or the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter live actions, or the Doom live action. You know the drill.

Before Borderlands, this seemed like the most obvious example and biggest runner-up for worst film of the year. And despite Borderlands earning its reputation in record time, don't think we've forgotten about this absolute trainwreck either.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: S. J. Clarkson
- Worst Actress: Dakota Johnson
- Worst Supporting Actor: Tahar Rahim
- Worst Supporting Actress: Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and/or Celeste O'Connor
- Worst Screen Combo
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel

Everybody is Arthur Fleck. The part when he said, "I don't want to sing anymore," to Lady Gaga (Harley) was bizarre.
The sequel should have left out the musical aspect. It was so atrocious that streaming became available in less than 3 weeks from its release. All thanks to the worst actress, Lady Gaga, for letting a $200 million film go to waste.
An insult to anyone and everyone who enjoyed the first film. Seriously, whoever decided to create this had the exclusive intention of isolating the audience to the worst possible degree.

Between the poor box office performance and how the reviews are calling it out, it's just easy to see how or why this movie would end up with various nominations.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Carlos Saldanha
- Worst Actor: Zachary Levi
- Worst Screen Combo
- Worst Screenplay
Nothing about this film - the cast, marketing, visuals, concept, or execution - comes together in any way, shape, or form. Dreadful.

When the first sneak peek of this film came out, everybody immediately knew the kind of project this remake would be. After its release... yeah, they were right. Maybe it's a little more tolerable than we all thought it was going to be, but make no mistake, it's still a very poorly made product. It had all the chances of succeeding, but it ruined them.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Rupert Sanders
- Worst Actor: Bill Skarsgård
- Worst Actress: FKA Twigs
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel
- Worst Screenplay

This movie was made for the Razzies, let me tell you. It's the vanity project to end all vanity projects and a truly self-indulgent, incoherent mess. This might land Jon Voight back-to-back Razzies, and the leading actor could end up getting Worst Actor as well.
I expect this to be the big winner of the 45th Razzies.
The previews for this movie were all laden with fake AI-generated positive reviews from nonexistent critics. That's all you need to know about the quality of this movie.
One of the most confusing films ever, and Jon Voight's boner line is terrible.

And thus, that little fad of movies about brands has come to a sad end. Yes, I enjoyed Blackberry, Tetris, and Air, but between this and Flaming Hot... oof, man, thank God these are going to be over.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Jerry Seinfeld
- Worst Actor: Jerry Seinfeld
- Worst Actress: Melissa McCarthy
- Worst Supporting Actress: Amy Schumer
- Worst Screen Combo
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel
- Worst Screenplay
Jerry Seinfeld isn't funny anymore, and his ego is huge.

Poor Zack Snyder, man. Part of me just wishes the guy could have some legit credibility as a filmmaker, but films like this just straight up don't help him at all to redeem his name.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Zack Snyder
- Worst Actress: Sofia Boutella
- Worst Screen Combo
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel
- Worst Screenplay
I'm only putting this one here because it's easily the worst film of the year, despite the fact that Borderlands comes very close. So why is it at the bottom? Well, for starters, I picture the least nominations for this one. Also, it's a Peacock exclusive - not even a big streaming service - so if the Razzies barely touch streaming-exclusive films, they would barely even notice this one came out.
With that said, if there's one film that truly deserves it, it's this one.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Eric Fogel
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel
- Worst Screenplay
The Newcomers

Karen the Hunter would be a much more appropriate title for this train wreck.

I just have no idea who in the world wanted to make a romantic/erotic drama involving Wednesday Addams and Bilbo Baggins.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Jade Bartlett
- Worst Actor: Martin Freeman
- Worst Actress: Jenna Ortega
- Worst Screen Combo
- Worst Screenplay
The only thing that can avoid this mess getting nominated is that it's a Netflix exclusive since the Razzies barely like to touch those. But after what happened with Blonde, I can see this one getting some noms too.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Picture
- Worst Director: Brad Peyton
- Worst Actress: Jennifer Lopez
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel
- Worst Screenplay

Remember when this film came out and quickly became the worst film of 2024? Well, it seems that it got semi-redeemed, even if not for the right reasons.
Deserved Nominations:
- Worst Director: Bryce McGuire
- Worst Actor: Wyatt Russell
- Worst Screen Combo
- Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel

Unnecessary, profane, and, quite frankly, disgusting. The creators of this load of crap think ANYONE would waste time on this self-indulgent "horror porno."
Like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, this is a rip-off.

Even though several great actors and actresses in Hollywood have historically been nominated for Worst Actor and Worst Actress before, it would still kind of break my heart to see Madelaine Petsch get nominated for Worst Actress because of this movie. But I'd totally understand it.

Ruining Bikini Bottom: The Mary Sue Movie

Nobody who made this honestly thought it was good. While it's Worst Picture-worthy, it's up against some stiff competition.

Between the campy screenplay and the grisly violence, I'd say this is too scary to watch. Pure nightmare fuel for me.
But there's a catch. Besides the sequel's producer and star Scott Chambers, the film features more big British names than its 2023 predecessor. Simon Callow, Alec Newman, and Teresa Banham are co-starring in this sequel. The Rotten Tomatoes score is still "Rotten," but it has improved by 48%.
2024, so far, has been a weird year for Jagged Edge Productions.
Irredeemably bad. This would have won Worst Picture had it come out last year instead of the first one. Life-draining.

A truly incoherent screenplay, lousy pandering to audiences, and an annoying-as-sin supporting cast. That lady from the last Indiana Jones movie really should have won Worst Supporting Actress last year, but hey, she might get it this year for this Iffy film.
Further proof that Awkwafina is radioactive box office poison.
