Top Ten Greatest Lost Sports Leagues

They were here for a moment, and then they were gone: here are ten sports leagues now lost to the annals of North American Sports History.
The Top Ten
1 American Football League
2 American Basketball Association
3 World Hockey Association
4 United States Football League

Oh I remember this Spring league very well. It lives on today on YouTube. Back in the UHF era I watched those memorable players and teams that today lives on in memory. Who'll ever forget The Jacksonville Bulls, the 1983 Champions Michigan Panthers, Donald Trump and those New Jersey Generals and finally Jim Kelly. Truly an unforgettable time and era.

5 All-America Football Conference
6 North American Soccer League

This was a lost league, I know because even as a young kid was a HUGE New York Cosmos fan, and in their glory days 1977-1980 had 70,000 plus fans packing Giants Stadium and Championships arriving in Cosmos Country. By 1985, only 7,000 came to see the Cosmos. Sad, but truly what a ride.

7 American Association (19th Century Baseball)
8 World Football League
9 XFL

This is the 2001 edition of the XFL, a time when Vince McMahon welcomed to the world and said "THIS IS THE XFL!". It was an attempt to bring more action, and harder hits. It was called Cheap Thrills by Sports Illustrated after Week 1, soon The XFL TV ratings dipped to dangerous lows, and not even Rod "He Hate Me" Smart and those sizzling cheerleaders helped the sinking league, and after the season, the First installment of the XFL was gone.
