Best Songs on the Album Lust for Life by Iggy Pop

His second studio album, Lust for Life was recorded over eight days with David Bowie at Hansa Studios in Berlin. Unlike his previous album, The Idiot, this is more of a guitar driven rock and roll record. Unfortunately, since the album only has nine songs, I had to make it a self-moderated list, which means that it probably won't get promoted. Therefore, I encourage you to get other people on the site to vote on this list. Thanks!

The Top Ten
1 Lust For Life

Who knew that a song about Iggy's own addictions could be so fun? Seriously, though, when I hear that drum intro, it makes me want to dance.

I really like this song, but before I knew who it was, I thought it was Mick Jagger.

2 The Passenger

One of his darkest works, this song was inspired by his experiences on the subway in Berlin.

3 Neighborhood Threat

It's about a person whose standing is challenged by a new outsider.

My favorite Iggy song.

4 Tonight

It's a song written to a girl who is dying from a heroin overdose. Bowie himself covered it in 1984, making it a duet with Tina Turner and removing the drug references at the beginning.

Oh yes, Iggy and Bowie were close friends

5 Turn Blue

The slowest track on the album. It's a six minute confessional from a drug addict; it's got more of a slow R&B feel to it.

6 Fall In Love With Me

Recorded during a jam where everyone swapped instruments, Iggy made up most of the lyrics on the spot, writing about sitting with his new flame at a table in Berlin.

7 Sixteen

The most simple song on the album both lyrically and musically; it was the only song written completely by Iggy Pop on the album.

8 Success

A call and response between Iggy and the other musicians, it's probably the happiest song on the album. He comes up with more ridiculous lyrics at the very end, with the group responding every time.

9 Some Weird Sin

I always thought it was about Iggy's own decisions, related to his drug abuse and his decadent behavior.
