1 Mike Portnoy Michael Portnoy is an American drummer primarily known as the former drummer, backing vocalist, and a co-founder of the progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater. Known for his technical skill as a drummer, Portnoy has won 30 awards from the Modern Drummer magazine.

Amazing drummer. Perhaps his departure was the most shocking change, after about 20 years with Dream Theater.

2 Mike Mangini Mike Mangini is an American drummer. Since 2010, he has been a member of progressive metal band Dream Theater, following the departure of founding drummer Mike Portnoy.

Dream Theater made the best decision by choosing him to replace

Mike Portnoy. Mike Mangini is one of my favorite metal drummers.

3 Matt Barlow Matthew 'Matt' Barlow is an American heavy metal singer and police officer. He was the lead singer for Iced Earth in the 1990s and 2000s. He is currently the lead singer for Ashes of Ares. After the September 11 terrorist attacks Matt Barlow decided to become a police officer and contribute to the "real world" instead of living the illusion of a "rock star." In 2007 he returned to music.

A great singer. There was a lot of drama when he quit Iced Earth, moreover he did it twice (because he returned after his first departure).

4 Geoff Tate Geoff Tate is a German-born American singer and musician who rose to fame in the 1980s with the progressive metal band Queensrÿche.

The drama surrounding Queensrÿche was oh mamma mia, mamma mia!

5 Jeff Loomis Jeff Loomis is an American musician, best known for his role as lead guitarist in the progressive metal band Nevermore and death metal band Arch Enemy.

Awesome guitarist who joined Arch Enemy.

6 Robert Trujillo Roberto Agustin Trujillo, better known as Robert Trujillo, is an American musician known for his role as the current bassist of heavy metal band Metallica.

He joined Metallica in 2003

7 Thomas The Omen Stauch Thomas ("The Omen") Stauch, also known as Thomen Stauch, is a German metal drummer best known as the drummer for the metal band Blind Guardian (1984-2005) and one of the founding members. He worked with various bands and is the current drummer for Serious Black.

He quit Blind Guardian after 20 years with them.

Incredible young guitarist. He quit Necrophagist and joined Obscura, but later he quit Obscura, too (this time for health reasons)

9 Alissa White-Gluz Alissa White-Gluz is a Canadian vocalist, best known as the former lead vocalist and one of the founding members of the Canadian metal band, The Agonist, and current lead vocalist for the Swedish melodic death metal group, Arch Enemy.

She departed from The Agonist and joined Arch Enemy.

10 Angela Gossow Angela Nathalie Gossow is a German vocalist, best known as the former lead vocalist for the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy.

11 Timo Tolkki Timo Tapio Tolkki is a Finnish musician best known as the former guitarist, songwriter and producer of the power metal band Stratovarius.

He was in Stratovarius from 1985-2008. The drama in this band was like a soup opera with over 1,000 episodes.
