Best Songs Between Dream Theater and Symphony X
Yes, I’m aware of how stat-padder-y this list may seem on the surface, but I promise I won’t make these lists often. I just felt like making this one in particular to chronicle the best of two prog metal legends in one tight package.
Honestly, in 23 minutes, this song completely goes through seasons. A masterpiece.

19 minutes of perfection; not one wasted minute here.
Definitely SX’s best work to date; 24 minutes, but completely worth it.
14 minutes of melodic, yet pure unadulterated rage.
Never really liked Six Degrees (song), felt completely unfocused and wasn't sure what type of song it wanted it to be.
This however, this is how you close an album. Keeping it tight and focused, not overwhelming the listener with unnecessary midsections, and overall keeping a song structure, not having it sound like an unfinished album. Less is more, and in this case, the less is still a lot for this song :P
This absolute monster of a prog suite does far more in 42 minutes than the average song can in three.
