RoseRedFlower's Top Ten Unpopular Anime Opinions

This was something many users on MyAnimeList harassed me about. How I don't have any real opinions on anime and only say what others want to here. And I can say with certainty that it's not true at all. So I wanted to create my list of unpopular anime opinions I do have. Please bare in my mind that this is my own opinion and I thought it would be fun to create my own personal list. I even have an idea! Why not create your own unpopular anime opinions list and I would read it. I know this list won't get lots of love but would love to hear your own opinions. Or you can just message me about them if you want. So with that in mind, here we go.
The items in this list have been selected by the author of the list for you to vote and comment on.
The Top Ten
1 I Like Fullmetal Alchemist More Than Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

While the ending to Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't good, I still prefer this over FMA Brotherhood. Brotherhood is excellent and ends way better. But I think the impression I got from first watching Fullmetal Alchemist impacted me way more than the sequel. True, you could probably sum this up as I saw Fullmetal Alchemist first but I thought sometimes the series did good. And while I do think some anime should get remade to be done better like Fullmetal Alchemist: brother, I'll always enjoy the original FMA more.

You're not alone.

Yet another phenomenal list from RRF.

2 I Like The 1989 Dragon Ball The Most

Yes, when Goku was a kid was when I liked the series more. I just liked the series for how charming and fun it was. I liked Goku learning about humans and his training with Master Roshi. I liked the origin of meeting characters like Krillin, Tien and even Yamcha. I do like some of the additional series like Dragon Ball Z but I'll always prefer the 1989 version the most.

80's for life!

3 I Only Sat Through One Season of Highschool DXD

I don't hate this anime. I'm glad it's an ecchi anime that will show full frontal nudity and not censor it. But it didn't hold me as well as I hoped it would. Sometimes it took itself way too seriously, some characters were just pushed aside that I wanted to know and the villains suck. The finale really killed it for me. It was so cliche and after this series tried to avoid being cliche as well. I don't hate it and I understand why people like it. But it's just not my cup of tea. Also, the new art style in Season 4 looks like every Light Novel adaptation into an anime I've ever seen.

So do I! Lol, every scene contains nudity SCREW IT!

4 Black Butler Is Overrated In My Opinion

It's not awful but people hype it way too much. It's not just the annoying shippers who force couples like CielXSebastian or SebastianXClaude. I think it just wasn't that good for me because of how it forced some of its dark moments on you. Then it would force happy moments. Plus some characters were really annoying like Alois Trancy or Elizabeth Midford. Even Ciel got aggravating at times for me. Not a terrible series and I would recommend checking it out to see for yourself. But it just didn't grab me like it did with other anime.

5 RE:ZERO Isn't That Good

Yes, I said it. It's not the worst thing I've seen but I genuinely wasn't impressed. The main character had so many idiotic moments that became annoying to sit through. Emilia was just...there. Rem for some reason fell in love with Subaru. And the other characters were just there. Plus I wasn't a big fan of the character designs and thought the plot became repetitive at times. Petelgeuse was okay at best though.

I don't know if this is unpopular as the show gets mixed reviews most of the time. I never seen it for myself so what do I know?

The only reason people like this is Rem.

The art style does not look good.

6 Highschool In Anime Is Way Too Repetitive

This I added after sitting through this year. They're so many good anime that don't involve school. Now don't get me wrong, some school anime are good. I've really enjoyed Boku No Hero Academia's aspect on school. But lots of them I found were pretty boring. Like Comic Girls, Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, Tachibanakan Triangle and especially this year Omae wa Mada Gunma wo Shiranai. We've had so many good anime like Violet Evergarden, Darling in the Franxx, Overlord II and Golden Kamuy that don't have school settings. I think the school genre in general is way too saturated and would like to see more different ideas done. Especially since many of the highschool genres seem to be running out of ideas.

Same with live action

IKR? Kids and teens don't spend the ENTIRETY of their lives in school. If you want a school anime that doesn't suck, watch BEASTARS.

7 Dubs Can Be Even Better Than Subs

Some examples I have are: Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Ghost Stories, Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note. Not all dubs are good but I'm not one of those elitists who think all dubs suck. I mean come on, we're not back in the dark ages of 4Kids anymore.

I personally prefer dubs because I am a slow reader and often have to rewind a lot in fear of missing an important plot point. Besides, you can put on dubbed anime for ambience.

It's fine. I watch dubs most of the time too.

Well, dubbing has come a long way since the 90s, and for the better.

8 Love Live Is Boring To Me

Love Live had maybe two memorable moments for me. That Nico-Nico-Nii moment (because there's so many meme's of it) and the song "Dance! Dance! Dance! ". The anime itself was pretty boring. Not too may memorable characters, I can't really remember any of the other songs and the story isn't interesting to me.

I have NO interest in this series. Probably because I have seen too many "cute girls doing cute things" anime which are usually sappy, boring, and repetitive. Though some of the songs are good if not decent.

Love live and aikatsu were pretty boring, your not alone!

9 Kill La Kill Is Better Than Gurren Lagann

For some reason this is a debate amongst anime fans. Which of these two are better? And I'm going to upset people by saying I like Kill La Kill better than Gurren Lagann. Gurren Lagann isn't trash but I though Kill La Kill did so many things better. One, the ending I thought for Kill La Kill was better. Gurren Lagann had that infamous ending that left people unhappy. Second, the score in Kill La Kill was much more enjoyable for me and I remember some tracks off the top of my head. I can't remember anything from Gurren Lagann other than the opening. Third, I'm not the biggest fan for Mech Anime. Some are really good like Code Geass but Gurren Lagann was alright for me. I'm more into the action that Kill La Kill had. I like weapons from swords to baseball bats. Gurren Lagann is good but I prefer Kill La Kill.

10 Lots of Harem Anime Suck

I've sat through so many harem and boy lots of them suck. Even reverse harems aren't very good. I've done a list on bad ones but I've seen plenty of awful ones that have been added. The harem genre is one of least favorites. Some do it well like Montser Musume and Ouran Highschool Host Club and others don't. I try to stay away from the harem genre because I've watched way too many bad ones.

Probably the most formulaic anime genre next to isekai. All the protagonists look and/or act the same and the least interesting girl always wins in the end. They are usually set in a boring school setting.

Monogatari is a top tier anime though
