The items in this list have been selected by the author of the list for you to vote and comment on.
The Top Ten
1 Arkansas Arkansas is a state located in the Southeastern region of the United States. Its name is of Siouan derivation, denoting the Quapaw Indians.

What? Arkansas is better than Alaska? Well Arkansas does have Bad Stats like High Crime Rates, Poor Education, and Not a lot of Jobs besides Walmart I guess which is a part of the Life here. But despite it's flaws, Arkansas is the 10th Happiest State! So stay that way Arkansarians!

2 Louisiana

Louisiana might have Nice Food and Culture, but it's the most Politically Corrupt State, 10% Sales Tax, Extreme Poverty, it's Flooding, Crime, Louisiana is basically the North Korea of America.

3 Mississippi Mississippi is a southern U.S. state with the Mississippi River to its west, the state of Alabama to its east, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.

Back in the day, Mississippi would've been the Worst or the Second Worst. But it has improved! But Healthcare, Economy, Poverty, Infastructure, and Education are in really bad shape there. But it's pretty there though. And it's the least Homeless State too! Probably because the Home Value is so low there.

4 Alabama Alabama is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west.

In the Developed World, Rural Alabama has the Worst Poverty. The Sanitation Levels there are similar to their Counterparts in Third World Countries. And like Louisiana, the Sales Tax is staggeringly high. But jobs are increasing here though so that's good news!

5 New Mexico

Like Mississippi, it is pretty here. And the state is rich in Native American and Spanish Culture. But New Mexico is not rich in literal terms. It's actually really poor. This leads to a High Crime Rate. The Crime Rate in Albuquerque is Triple the National Average. And there's apparently a lot of Car Thefts too?

6 West Virginia West Virginia is a state located in the Appalachian region of the Southern United States. It is bordered by Pennsylvania to the north, Maryland to the east and northeast, Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, and Ohio to the northwest. West Virginia is the 41st largest state by area, and is ranked 38th in population. The capital and largest city is Charleston.

West Virginia used to be a pretty nice state, but as towns crumble due to the Bad Infrastructure, and the Mountains crumble due to the Mining the Economy once relied on, Bad Economy since there is no more Mountains to Mine, Bad Schools, Highest Obesity Rate, And it's the Grumpiest State too! There is no wonder why it has the most Outbound Moves. But West Virginia is getting better!

7 Alaska Alaska is a U.S. state situated in the northwest extremity of the Americas. The Canadian administrative divisions of British Columbia and Yukon border the state to the east; it has a maritime border with Russia to the west across the Bering Strait.

Alaska might have the Best Nature in this country, but NEVER EVER judge a book by its cover. Alaska's Staggeringly Expensive, Highest Crime Rate, Bad Schools, Cold, Dark, you wouldn't want to Breathe anywhere since it's the most Humid and one of the Most Polluted States, and the Last Frontier was ranked as the Worst State for Business. That might explain the Highest Unemployment Rate at 6.5%, and that might explain the 7th Highest Homeless Rate per Capita.

8 Oklahoma

Sure it has Booming Cities and Native American Culture I guess, but most of the Jobs are Energy Jobs and Oklahomans eat the least amount of Fruits and Veggies, and that is just so irresponsible! Not to mention but their stats are bad too!

9 Kentucky Kentucky, officially the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a state located in the east south-central region of the United States.

Sure, Kentucky might have some Decent to Good Cities, but it currently has problems with Healthcare, Business, and Kentucky is the Worst State to Retire in and that is just so sad!

10 South Carolina South Carolina is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. The state is bordered to the north by North Carolina, to the south and west by Georgia across the Savannah River, and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean.

Besides from Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and a few other places, South Carolina doesn't offer a lot. It's Dangerous, Poor, Hurricanes, but the Weather is Good though! Besides the Hurricanes I just mentioned.

The Contenders
11 Ohio Ohio is a state in the midwestern region of the United States. Ohio is the 34th largest by area, the 7th most populous, and the 10th most densely populated of the 50 United States.

If you live in Ohio, you either love it or hate it. You might say that you love it, but the statistics don't lie. All of it's major cities except Columbus and Cincinnati are terrible for Crime, Poor Education, and Unemployment.

all of my childhood friends retired in the worst parts of the state, they're to afraid to go out of their own homes due to violence & civil unrest

Ohio is a ghetto state, anyone can commit a crime & never get caught, Ohio should have a democratic governor to make the state bluer than California, the top priority would be is to furiously keep communities educated & aware, chemicals pollution CO2 emissions all have to be regulated & monitored

the crime rate in toldeo is insane!

12 Missouri Missouri is a state located in the Midwestern United States. It is the 21st most extensive, and the 18th most populous of the fifty states.

And here we are at the state of Missouri, or as most people call it 'Misery'. Saint Louis is like the 14th Most Dangerous City in the World! And unlike most states that were expanding their Healthcare Sector, Missouri has been cutting it off faster than ever! If it wasn't for Kansas City, it's Suburbs, and it's Affordable Cost of Living, Missouri would be way lower on this list.

13 Tennessee Tennessee is a state located in the southeastern United States. Tennessee is the 36th largest and the 17th most populous of the 50 United States.

As you might know, Nashville is booming! So is Memphis, but those are Gunshots, not people.

14 Indiana

There has been a lot of people flocking into this state. And I'm not sure why. If it wasn't for whatever the reason why everyone is moving to Indiana, Indiana would've been in the Top 10 Worst States.

15 Washington Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States located north of Oregon, west of Idaho, and south of the Canadian province of British Columbia on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It is the only state named after a president.

Speaking of fighting, Washington does have a lot to offer such as Beautiful Nature, Jobs, and Good Schools, but Seattle is an ABSOLUTE MESS! So if you could fix Seattle, Washington wouldn't be here.

16 Minnesota Minnesota is a state in the Midwestern United States. Minnesota was admitted as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858, created from the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory.

Another State that is Good on Paper is Minnesota! But like Seattle, Minneapolis is an Absolute Mess too.

17 Nevada Nevada is a state in the Western, Mountain West, and Southwestern regions of the United States of America.

Sure, Nevada might have no Income Tax and it's Booming, but it's still facing Major Issues with Homelessness, Poor Education, Crime, Addiction, etc.

18 Pennsylvania Pennsylvania, officially the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a state located in the northern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.

When most of the Manufacturing Jobs fled for the Sun Belt, Pennsylvania's Economy took a Hard Hit. And Philadelphia isn't any better either! It's a terrible place filled with Crime, Poverty, and a lot of Homeless.

No one likes us. We don't care.

19 Delaware Delaware is one of the Mid-Atlantic states located in the Northeast megalopolis region of the United States.

Here we are at Delaware! Ah, poor Delaware. What are you gonna do, fight someone?

20 California California is a state in the Southwestern United States. With 39.6 million residents across a total area of about 163,696 square miles (423,970 square kilometers), California is the most populous U.S. state and the third-largest by area. The state capital is Sacramento, and the largest city is Los Angeles.

Sure, California might have the highest GDP in the Nation, but it has major issues with Poor Education, Smog, It's Finances, it's Corruption, Homelessness, and it's Dead Last in Quality of Life.
