All 2018 Hit Songs (As of June 5, 2018)

allamassal We're 5 months into 2018 as of today, and quite a few songs have been released and became popular, so I made this post ranking all the hit songs this year so far. Not all of these songs were released in 2018, they were just popular in 2018.

GARBAGE (0/5):
6ix9ine: Gummo
Even though this came out last year, I put this here because it tops the list of Worst Songs of 2018.

Cardi B / J Balvin: I Like It
The title of this song is the opposite of what my review would be.

Cardi B / DJ Khaled / Jennifer Lopez: Dinero
I was just listening to this garbage and now it's stuck in my head. Is this even music?

BAD (1/5):
Pink: What About Us
I had to put this here because even though it was a 2017 hit, I still heard it 3 times in one day on the radio sometimes in 2018. The grating chorus (which is usually repeating in my head as well) makes me want to leave the car. But maybe the reason I dislike this song is because I don't like depressing music. Whatever, I'll probably upgrade this to 2/5 when I hear it less.

Drake: God's Plan
This song is just another below-average snorefest, but was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 weeks and plays on the radio constantly.

Justin Timberlake: Say Something
This song is very repetitive, the line "looking for something I can't have" is repeated 8 TIMES near the end, and the title is repeated 6 times in the chorus.

MEH (2/5):
Sza / Kendrick Lamar: All The Stars
I do like Sza's part, but this song is a bit bland for me. I've never really heard the whole thing, so this review is based off of what I've heard.

Camila Cabello: Never Be The Same
While this did slightly grow on me, the vocals are overly auto-tuned, and the worst part is the part with the high notes.

Meghan Trainor: No Excuses
This song also grew on me a bit, but this would probably be the biggest earworm of 2018 so far.

DECENT (3/5):

Zedd: The Middle
This song is kind of good actually (though it might sour on me due to overplay and the generic theme), but sounds a lot like "Stay" in a different key. I might downgrade this to 2/5 soon.

Dua Lipa: New Rules
This song is one of those songs I probably would have liked, but I kept hearing it on the radio, so it got old for me.

Marshmello / Anne-Marie: Friends
I get that this song's message could have been expressed in a nicer way, but other than that I'm not really sure what to think of this song.

Bazzi: Mine
Although this song was released in 2017, the meme around it happened in 2018. Anyway, decent song.

GOOD (4/5):
Imagine Dragons: Whatever It Takes
The verses in this song (especially the first verse) are not that great, but everything else is excellent.

Maroon 5: Wait
I actually really like this song, and it's also insidiously catchy!

Gnash / Max: Lights Down Low
This song was actually released in 2016, but the remix on the radio was released at the tail end of 2017, making it a 2018 hit. I don't really have much to say about this song, other than that the melody is enjoyable, so it's a good song.

The Weeknd / Kendrick Lamar: Pray For Me
Both artists are great on this song, but I especially like The Weeknd's part.

GREAT (5/5):
Ariana Grande: No Tears Left To Cry
I didn't like this song the first few times I heard it, but now I really like it.

Shawn Mendes: In My Blood
I love this song because the melody and chord progression are great, and so are the lyrics.

G-Eazy / Halsey: Him & I
Both artists are great on this song, but I mainly like this song because of Halsey's part.

Charlie Puth / Kehlani: Done For Me
My favorite song at the moment!

So the score for this year so far is 53/95, or 40/65 if you account for the fact that 6 of the songs I mentioned were actually released last year. That is about 56/100 (or 62/100) which means that this year has been kind of above average.
