The Top Ten
1 The Dark Knight

Back when DC was good! Today, DC sucks! This is one of their better movies! This is my favorite movie of all time! This film shows how brilliant a superhero film can really be! Especially when it’s directed by Christopher Nolan! Batman overcoming the chaos would be great to watch on its own, and adding in the Harvey Dent situation made the movie the spectacle it is! This movie is phenomenal for people who likes punches, drama, shooting, and explosions! The Joker is marvelous! Heath Ledger’s acting in this movie turned the Joker into a LEGEND! It’s simply impossible to describe him! He’s bold, insane, smart, twisted and he’s so awesome in this film that at some points you love him even more than Batman! I have never seen such perfect and realistic acting than the Joker in this film! Christian Bale have proved himself once again as an amazing actor! Michael Caine as Alfred makes you fall in love with Batman’s loyal butler! The ending isn't happy, but it’s flawless! I don't ...more

2 Terminator 2: Judgment Day

This is the sequel that nobody in their right minds would have expected to be this entertaining! James Cameron takes every great element from the original film, showcases them with an enormous budget and tells an even more compelling story! It keeps you engaged by monoton robots and rouge humans may be quite the challenge on paper, but it is displayed seamlessly here. Again, the cast is fantastic! Edward Furlong really holds his own next to Schwarzenegger, and that is no easy feat! Some people say that this is a rehash of the original, but I didn't see it distracting. I love the hospital scenes mostly at night! The Cyberdyne building action sequences and of course, steel mill action sequences are perfect in this film! The film deals with a lot of action, sci-fi, and does involve a lot of paradox time travel! There is a lot of explosions and automatic weapons used in the film. The CGI and special effects are awesome! This film is filled with great, classic moments! T2 is James ...more

3 The Empire Strikes Back

This is the best Star Wars film ever made! It’s deeper, darker, and more philosophical! It still has all the great qualities that the original Star Wars had! Great effects, appealing characters, and lots of spellbinding action! It’s great because Darth Vader and the Empire are at their most menacing, the direction is creative, the characters feel real, the nature of the Force is more explored withought losing it's mysticism, and the pacing is, as George Lucas would put it, faster and more intense than any other film in the saga! The best scene in the entire film is the lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker! That is the most suspenseful and dramatic scene in the entire franchise! It also has eliminated some of the pro that plaqued the first. The storyline is tighter, and goes much deeper into character development! The performances are terrific, especially Harrison Ford as Han Solo, and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. This serves as a constant reminder tat ...more

4 Spider-Man 2

This is the second film in the Sam Raimi trilogy, and this is the best in the trilogy! This is also the second best Spider-Man film, with Spider-Verse being the best one! Spider-Man 2 transcends the boundaries of being just another comic book movie to being a richly character driven movie with a very conflicting hero! Tobey Maguire reprises his role and maintains to present the great portrayal of Peter Parker! While struggling with his real life and his heroic life, Parker’s growing love for Mary Jane grows and flawlessly creates a strong emotional trend to the film! Alfred Molina gives audiences one of the strongest performances with a Marvel villian through his role as the notorious Doctor Octopus! And that train scene, such an amazing fight scene! From a potent script and incredible visual effects, Sam Raimi succeeds in creating an intimidating foe who is both interesting and sophisticated! Without a doubt one of the best superhero films ever made! This was the last good ...more

5 Toy Story 2

This is Pixar’s first sequel and their third film, and it was really great! This is a wonderful sequel that delves deeper into the depth of the characters, paired with a well written plot that engages the audience from start to finish! The new characters that are introduced are welcomed wholeheartedly! The villian is really amazing! Also, this is where Disney began doing the overused villian wist. As it’s been getting annoying in Disney movies now. The score is excellent. Randy Newman really did it again! And it also had some very emotional moments such as Jessie’s song! That still gets me every time. That scene also perfectly demonstrates the theme of abandonment! Out of all the films, this one is the funniest! All of the jokes got a laugh out of me! The animation has also improved! It also has smart writing! My only problem with the film is that it’s predictable. I knew that the gang would save Woody and bring him back. Besides that, I really love this film!

6 How to Train Your Dragon 2

I really loved the first film! It had a great story, likable characters, and unforgettable moments! I was excited for this since DreamWorks is usually good at making sequels. Except for other times. And this really surpassed my expectations! DreamWorks usually makes their second installment in a franchise their best installment. First with Shrek, then Kung Fu Panda, and now How to Train Your Dragon! It has everything you want out of a great film! It has a lot of heart, have better action, and gorgeous animation! I also love how we see Hiccup’s mother! I was really surprised that she survived for all these years. The score by John Powell is wonderfully composed! The villian was also really intimidating! He controls all the dragons as he controlled Toothless to kill Hiccup’s father! There is a more emotional aspect to this film and comes off as a little more serious which can appeal to adults. There were also times where I shedded a tear. If I had one problem with this film, is that ...more

7 Shrek 2

Shrek 2 is considered by many to be one of those rare instances where a sequel may be just as good, if not better, than the original film. The film continues off from the first film and goes to show Shrek and Fiona’s relationship, which feels very real and genuine, in a whole new angle! Shrek learns that Fiona’s dream, while locked away in the tower, was to marry a Prince Charming. Thinking that’s what would make her truly happy. Seeing Shrek go to the lengths of abandoning his life of living in a swamp to make Fiona happy is very sweet and makes for some great drama! As you would expect, this film is filled with joke after joke, and almost, if not all of them, hit bullseyes. Donkey in particular has many moments that are funny! The new characters are all very enjoyable and memorable as well. My favorite character in the film is Puss in Boots! He was so popular that he got his own spin-off movie! Which was really good! So combine a suprisingly well told love story with some ...more

8 Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The first Captain America was pretty good, but it wasn't amazing. This one was even better! This is Marvel at its best! This is the movie that established the Russo Brothers as one of the very bets directors of our age! And they would later direct Civil War and Infinity War! Which were phenomenal movies! They will also direct Endgame also! Captain America is an even more emphatic hero and the world of espionage and secrets makes this movie a superior entry in the MCU! It also brings some new and exciting moments! It manages to combine action with beautifully choreographed fighting scenes and a lot of character centered moments that I highly enjoyed! The acting was great on everyone’s part and I particularly enjoyed Robert Redford, which I always appreciated as an actor, and Sebastian Stan, which I personally haven't seen much of, if not for his really small role in The Martian. I have nothing bad to say about this film! An outstanding film! Definitely an improvement over the first ...more

9 Aliens

I’m a big fan of Alien! I loved the original! And this was even better! It holds in up incredibly considering the fact that this was made in 1986. This has layers and good character development! And, I know that this is a later film, but this has aged far better than the original. The pacing is wonderul, with every scene adds to the feeling of hopelessness. The characters are also fantastic as they were! The film provide the same scares, tension and horror of the original while taking it in a fresh and unique direction, the combination of thrilling action with horror makes it a truly great film and shows how a franchise can try new things while staying true to the qualities that made the first one so great. It’s too bad the later sequels weren't good. This is a phenomenal film!

10 Annabelle: Creation

The first Annabelle was awful. It was horribly generic, and wasn't even scary. I was looking forward to this since the story seemed more interesting than the first. I was pleasantly surprised by how this turned out. I really enjoyed it. It’s much more effective than the first Annabelle movie. This is a smart prequel made by a very competent director who knows how to avoid the clichés and build tension mostly through the use of silence. This fixes some of the problems that the first one had and improved it here. It has everything you would want from a James Wan film. It’s got great actors, a bone chilling setting, and some good jumpscares that keeps your heart pumping. Although, the film was somewhat predictable and felt like a step backwards from Conjuring 2. What bothers me the most is the inconsistency of the demonic physical ability to do things. Sometimes it shows very powerful force, sometimes it just does standard things like slamming doors and throw things. Overall, this ...more
