The Top Ten
1 Avengers: Endgame

I’m pretty sure you all saw this coming! This is easily the best film of the year so far! 11 years in the making and they gave it the perfect ending to the saga! They did a great job building up each solo character and having their solo films bring some new and exciting stuff! This film provided some of the best action sequences the MCU has ever had! The film also has plenty of emotional moments for all the main Avengers, concluding many of their plot threads. The characters were still memorable and energetic! Thanos was more intimidating than he was in Infinity War! Here, he showed his merciless more brutal side as a fierce conqueror! He was the best villain in this saga! I loved how they did Clinton in here! They made him from a guy who’s good at bows and arrows to an impactful and sympathetic person! The climax was really spectacular as each character shines! It also makes people excited! The visuals were still top-notch! The direction by The Russo Brothers was fantastic as ...more

2 Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

Screw the critics on this one! This film is awesome! It delivers what we all want out of a Godzilla film! I had the same enjoyable experience while watching the 2014 Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island! Godzilla is still badass in this film! Every scene with him was perfect! He looks way better and he uses his classic roar! He also has tons of screen time than the last movie! The designs for the monsters looked outstanding! Especially the design on Mothra which was beautiful! The CGI was solid on the monsters! The cinematography was glorious as it gave tons of beautiful shots! The acting was great as the actors did a good job, especially Millie’s acting which I hope we get to see her in future movies! It’s an absolutely an atomic blast of epic fights accompanied by an incredible score by Bear McCreary! Dr. Serizawa has a bigger role this time. He gives exposition while moving the story forward with his very great performance! I really loved Millie’s character! I liked some of the ...more

This is honestly my favorite movie of the year. I’ve waited so many years for this. The human characters...everyone can have different opinions on them. I enjoyed them personaly. The music is insane! Bear McCreary deserves an award. The Kaiju stuff is great. Mothra is my number 1. She steals the show. I want her to have a Solo Movie after Godzilla vs. Kong. I know it’ll happen. She made me tear up so much. I just love her. She’s already the best Kaiju of the MonsterVerse. Godzilla and Ghidorah are amazing. Godzilla’s updated design is a welcome improvement. King Ghidorah’s characterization is way better than how he was in the classics. He’s pure evil and he’s a lot scary. The 3 different personalities is hilarious. Rodan has a great design, and has a cool spotlight in Isla De Mara. But he was kinda a pushover and pointless. Special effects are great. I love this movie. Critics mean nothing. I give this movie a 10/10. Such a fantastic film.

3 Rocketman

I like Elton John! I listen to his music sometimes! I had very high expectations for this film and they were met! The acting is phenomenal! Taron Egerton does an outstanding job as Elton John! He embodies so much emotion into his performance and he’s an outstanding singer! I’m confident in thinking that Egerton’s performance could be a possible Oscar nomination! Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard both do an outstanding job as the people who Elton cares about! The musical numbers in this film are amazing! Each one has its own visual flair! They keep your interest and get the other characters and surrounding extras involved! The tone of the film remains consistent and the film is paced really well also! The film’s structure is great! The story is told from Elton John while he’s in therapy and ends with him overcoming his problems. My only problem with the film is that some of the family drama does feel kinda forced. It doesn’t take a lot away from the experience but it does ...more

4 John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

The first two John Wick films are some of the best action films I’ve seen! I consider this to be an amazing film and an amazing feat in the action genre! John Wick 3 continues the story of John Wick in a very satisfying way, it starts right where the second film left off! The stakes have increased as well and you were kind of worried about John throughout the film. I loved that they delved into his past a little more. What I was more surprised about was that they managed to expand the world even more from what they did in the second film. The world building is definitely one of the most important driving elements of this trilogy. The score by Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard is, yet again, just amazing and the cinematography is just perfect! What makes me feel that this film is not as good as the second film is the fact that some of the action scenes just went on for too long. Especially near the end it felt tiring. In this case, the action overshadowed the story, which the other ...more

John Wick 3 was actually a near perfect movie, sure the movie wasn't story heavy, but John Wick 2 set up everything perfectly for it to be just a straight action movie and the story they did have actually worked and made sense, the only flaw was the main villian who just seemed extremely dumb instead of an intelligent mastermind, I mean this person did literally everything in her power to ensure that John Wick will have allies and a reason for those allies to help John Wick take down the organization, worse yet she didn't even make sure she killed those allies

5 Toy Story 4

What I originally thought would disappoint turned out to be surprisingly great! It’s another story that tackles the difficulties of growing up and moving on. I loved the set designs in this film. Like the carnival and the antique shop! This, in my opinion, was the funniest Toy Story film! Nearly every joke worked very well and the timing was excellent! The emotional weight on a scale of sad to full on tearjerking, especially with the interactions between Woody and Bo and that gut punching ending! And the animation is STUNNING! It is mesmerizingly detailed and the lighting is gorgeous! The backgrounds also look so realistic! Pixar is constantly topping itself in the animation department and it shows as every film they have released has progressively looked better and better! I loved the themes that they introduced and they were relatable! The ending also left me crying even after exiting the theater, but the third movie’s ending is better. The voice acting was still phenomenal as ...more

6 Shazam!

This is the funniest film I’ve seen this year so far! The best thing about this film is the heart and the great story about family! Billy Batson is a foster kid who wants to be alone, but has to adjust to a foster family. Usually films have a negative portrayal of foster families, but this film has a positive portrayal on it! The parents is not abusive! That had me smiling for the rest of the film! I loved it so much! There are so many funny moments in this film and none of them felt forced! Every joke lands! I was cracking up so much! This has a much lighthearted tone than the previous DC films. The acting is fantastic! Zachary Levi was born to play Shazam! Billy was very believable as both a kid and an adult! The action was amazing! It isn’t all over the place like the other DC films. I also thought the villain was really terrifying. He had a backstory that made his motivations understandable! The climax was, in my opinion, one of the funniest climaxes I’ve seen! My only ...more

This was so hilarious!

7 How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

The final installment was definitely a worthy ending for Hiccup and Toothless’ tale! I love the nostalgia that it made to the first one! The film also uses the same themes as they used in the first two films like friendships, courage, and teamwork as well as having useful messages for young children! There’s so much to enjoy in seeing not only the continuing friendship between Hiccup and Toothless, but also in Toothless and his love interest Light Fury. Each tender moment between the two of them was so adorable to watch and one cannot help but cheer Toothless on as he attempts to court one of the last of his kind! The animation has improved significantly over the past 9 years! With its gorgeous visuals shown off within the titular Hidden World. In addition to this, the voice acting is still solid! Hiccup is still relatable to the audience as he still has realistic problems to face, like he struggling to be a leader! Astrid has much more stronger development from her many other ...more

8 The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

I’m quite disappointed that this didn’t make enough money at the box office. I would’ve loved to see a third film. But I guess that won’t happen. Anyways, this sequel did a great job following up to the first film. The satisfying thing about the film is relating everything that happens in the real world, as the film cleverly uses the concepts of dimensions in its self-referential manner. The allegorical message this time around was slightly different to the first and probably stuck with me more as it’s a very relatable ideology and really made me contemplate in coming weeks. This film was also nonstop hilarious! The jokes were bright, clever and silly! There were also fourth wall jokes in the film! The voice acting was still well done! Chris Pratt has a dual voice as he voices Rex Dangervest. It’s funny to hear Chris Pratt talking to herself. The characters were still likable as they were before. Emmett is still the lovable goofball who you can’t love. Wildstyle takes a ...more

9 Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

This film is pretty good. It hits all the beats of what a movie like this could be like, but it’s definitely undercut by the plot, namely the corporate business man being evil. It’s all pretty standard. The film manages to be respectful to its source material and never once looses sight of what made the series a worldwide phenomenon. This film gives an explanation as to what Pokemon actually are. The film also adds charm and wonderment. The CGI was amazing as it really brings the Pokemon to life on the big screen. Ryan Reynolds shines as Pikachu! He inserts much of his humor into his performance, which kind of feels like a PG version of Deadpool. The bond between Tim and Pikachu is near perfect and was well executed. The action scenes were enjoyable. The jokes were pretty funny as well. Like the running gag where Pikachu becomes addicted to caffeine. The film isn’t exactly great, but not bad either. Pikachu would talk too much sometimes. At times, he would over explain things in ...more

This movie was a surprise hit, sure it was a pretty generic story that was predictable, but it was fun

10 Alita: Battle Angel

This film is why every anime adaptation should’ve been! It’s a deep film that covers a wide range of themes such as female empowerment, personal growth, sacrifice and loss! Alita, in my opinion, looks amazing! She looks vibrant and full of life! And yes, the eyes did bother me, but I got used to it later on. The effects on her looked so much better than I expected! The action is also really entertaining! All fights of Alita were amazing! What surprised me is that it’s violent! I never believed that it could get a PG-13 rating! I liked the world building in this. It looks so wonderfully imagined. The characters were well written as well. Alita was one of the best female protagonists in a film. Hugo was a good character to. His chemistry with Alita was decent and it works fine. Although, the film had pretty one note villains. Vector was just a big evil guy. I never really found him to be interesting. He’s barely the main villain. The plot can be convoluted at times. It made me ...more
