Top 10 Reasons Rocko's Modern Life Is By Far The Superior Cartoon Series to Ren & Stimpy

Just needed to get this off of my chest; I am SO ridiculously tired of Ren & Stimpy being placed ridiculously higher on lists of Top 10 Best Cartoons than Rocko's Modern Life is, and here are my personal reasons why.
The items in this list have been selected by the author of the list for you to vote and comment on.
The Top Ten
1 Ren & Stimpy is all about looking as tastelessly flashy and being as ridiculously shocking and disgusting as possible, whereas Rocko's Modern Life puts that type of stuff more on the back burner in favor of actually being well-written and interesting

Making it not only a ridiculously better show in general but also a better influence on kids

I love both shows, but I very much agree with this list.

2 Rocko's Modern Life, despite how badly it may have jumped the shark in Season 4 compared to its original trilogy of seasons, actually stayed (EXTREMELY) good all the way through its 52-episode (technically 100-episode) run

Now THIS right here is something that even some of the absolute most diehard fans of R&S can agree on
(and don't even get me STARTED on the R&S Adult Party Cartoon either; not looking to beat Mr. Horse to death here)

3 Rocko's Modern Life is overall vastly funnier and smarter than Ren & Stimpy in almost every possible way

Although both shows do admittedly have a pretty ridiculous nostalgic god complex bestowed upon them by their fans, Rocko's Modern Life (in my admittedly far-from-humble opinion) has actually legitimately EARNED it for the most part

4 Rocko's Modern Life actually has more going for it than just "certain scenes here and there are good" and "it was innovative for its time"

Look, I know that Ren & Stimpy contains some absolutely MIND-BLOWING scenes in certain extremely specific episodes (Ren's insomnia sequence from Insomniac Ren, Ren's plot to murder Stimpy in Stimpy's Fan Club, the Happy Helmet sequence from Stimpy's Invention, "OH, WHAT I'M GONNA DO TO YOU" from Sven Hoek, Ren's "ice cream bar" monologue and the History Eraser Button ending scene from Space Madness, the infamous Stimpy vore scene from "Boy Who Cried Rat", Ren attempting to flush himself down the garbage disposal of his own sink in Ren Needs Help, Ren beating George Liquor senseless with a boat paddle in Man's Best Friend, Powdered Toast Man's self-titled debut episode, Ren's brain returning to his house after being lobotomized by Stimpy in Ren's Brain, et cetera), but overall, it's just not enough to redeem the show in my opinion

5 Ren & Stimpy really only has one or two actually good characters in its cast (Ren himself and maybe Powdered Toast Man); Rocko's Modern Life has Rocko, Heffer, Filburt, Dr. Hutchison, Spunky, all three of the Bigheads, Really Really Big Man, etc

Now look, I won't deny that Ren most certainly was an absolutely AMAZING character on a whole multitude of different levels, but let's take a look at the bigger picture here: Literally almost EVERY single character in the Rocko series is individually just about AS relatable and hilarious as Ren was, AND is actually funny for reasons other than just being incredibly disturbing to boot; speaking about Dr. Hutchison ALONE, she's a mentally deranged, hook-handed, ridiculously sexy redheaded nurse (in anthro-cat form, naturally) who is constantly grinning from ear to ear in classic horror movie fashion, is hilariously flamboyant and hyperactive, goes through jobs like how real-life Americans go through groceries and is romantically obsessed with an also-hilariously stereotypically Jewish and nerdy anthro turtle (with emo glasses) named Filburt

And as for the Bigheads, just watch I Have No Son and Wacky Delly; enough said

6 Although Ren & Stimpy might have technically invented the now-infamous Spongebob formula, Rocko's Modern Life absolutely perfected it in a way that even Spongebob itself has arguably NEVER been able to live up to

Honestly, Seasons 1-4 of Spongebob WAS, in many places, almost as good as this show was, but STILL

7 Contrary to what the show's annoying hipster fanbase would have you believe, Rocko's creator (Joe Murray) isn't a completely pretentious and hypocritical jerkwad who only cares about visuals like Ren & Stimpy's (John Kricfaluski) is

That, and Joe Murray also made more than one actually notable show (even though Camp Lazlo WAS downright laughable in almost every way possible when compared to Rocko's Modern Life before it)

8 Rocko's Modern Life actually has a much older and more sophisticated target audience than Ren & Stimpy and, in reality, is just generally a more adult show

I can actually name a LOT of ways in which RML was secretly even EDGIER than R&S was

(do the Leap Frogs, Who's For Dinner, To Heck And Back and Camera Shy episodes ring a bell? )

9 Assuming that you actually watch the whole series, Rocko's Modern Life is actually more memorable overall than Ren & Stimpy

Go on; just take a look at my "Best Ren & Stimpy/Rocko's Modern Life Moments" list and THEN tell me with a straight face that the R&S series has even NEARLY as many standout moments as the Rocko series does

10 The art style actually LOOKS better in Rocko's Modern Life than it does in Ren & Stimpy, contrary to popular belief

The fact that it actually WASN'T being used in a purely style-over-substance show certainly helped as well
