I notice that a lot of the lists on here totally ignore the truly great singers of the past. Well, here they are.

A folk singer and not a rock singer. His songs were covered however by many Rockgroups ( who made it different in sound and with different instruments ). Many songs of him were transformed into Rock but the keyword is " transformed " here.

He was a talented yet troubled grunge performer. Kurt Cobain became a rock legend in the 1990s with his band. He committed suicide at his Seattle home in 1994.
