Top 10 Mario Characters that Get the Most Hate on TheTopTens

Almost Every Mario character is loved to some degree. But some get way a lot of hate.
The Top Ten
1 Rosalina Rosalina, known as Rosetta in Japan, is a major character in the Mario Franchise created by Nintendo. She first appeared in the 2007 Mario Game, Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii and later returned for the game's sequel in 2010. Since then, she has been featured in many main-series Mario Games and many spinoffs. She has appeared as a playable character in Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo Wii U in 2013 and is a playable character in the Mario Kart series and Mario Party series. She also has come into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS as a part of the large character roster.

I think she gets so much hate because she is a newer character. She and Daisy are the only ones who are not for 5 year old girls. I just really like Rosalina and daisy equally because they are for people who really like the mario series and are older. Let's face it Peach is like the new really cheap Barbie dolls that can't even move and always get captured and is the only one I really can't relate to. Rosalina is mature and caring. Daisy is a sporty fighter tomboy. Peach is a dumb and ditzy girl who sits there and gets captured. I don't have IGN but here it is if had it on Mario princesses. Peach 7/10 Daisy 8/10 Rosalina 10/10.

Good. She deserves it for being bad and coming from an awful game during a terrible era.

2 Daisy Princess Daisy is a fictional character in the Mario series of video games, in which she is the princess of the fictional region of Sarasaland.

She isn't a damsel or a goddess. Gotta give credit for that?

Daisy gets hate for one reason her fan base.

I think you overrate

Daisy = nightmare.

3 Pauline Pauline, also known as Daniella Verducci, is the original damsel-in-distress whom Mario must rescue from the eponymous ape in the original Donkey Kong.

Why all the hate? Pauline rarely appears.

She has so many haters

4 Mario Mario, originally named Jumpman, is the main character of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, created by the creative director and video game designer at Nintendo of Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario has appeared in almost every Mario game, including games in spin-off series as a playable character, with few exceptions including New Super Luigi U, Luigi's Mansion games, Yoshi's Island games, and similar counterparts. He is the most iconic character in video game history and is Nintendo's unofficial mascot. His franchise has grown to be the most successful video game franchise of all time.

Mario is far more hated than Daisy. To find a bananza of Mario hate, go to a list titled something like "best Nintendo characters" or "best video game characters" and you'll see Link and Mario at the top two spots. Then read all of the comments on Link. Yyyeah.

It's sad how the mascot of Nintendo gets too much hate. I think we all know why.

Should be higher

5 Toad Toad, known in Japan as Kinopio, is a major character in the Mario Bros. franchise. He assists Princess Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom and will do whatever it takes to help her. He first appeared in the classic game, Super Mario Bros. after being kidnapped by Bowser and his minions. Since then he has been a reappearing character in the Mario Bros. series as a playable character in the New Super Mario Bros. series, Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Mario Run, and many other games. He also appears as playable character in many Mario-spinoff games including the Mario Kart series, Mario Party games, Mario and Sonic Olympic Games, Mario Sports Games, and many more. ...read more.

You guys hate him because he said sorry but our princess is in another castle even though that game came out over 30 years ago? Seriously?

6 Peach Princess Peach is a major character in the Mario Bros. Franchise. She is the lead female of the The Mario franchise. She is usually the character who needs saved in most Mario Games, but also has appeared as a playable character in the Main-Series Mario Games, including Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Run, and even starred in her own game, Super Princess Peach for the Nintendo DS. She has appeared in many spinoff series, too, including Mario and Sonic Olympic Games, the Mario Kart series, the Mario Party series, Mario Sports Games, the Super Smash Bros. Series, and many more.

She has more hate than Mario in here (everywhere else Mario gets too much hate).

7 Birdo Birdo is a dinosaur that is well known for her (or his) confused Gender. It was originally stated that Birdo was a male who believed he was a female, but this was changed in later games. Birdo is commonly referred to as a girl, however, they are in a relationship with Yoshi. Birdo first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2 as an enemy towards the player. She is now included in many spinoff titles of the Mario franchise as a playable character, including the Mario Kart series and the Mario Party series.

People think she's transgender? She's pink and has a bow. Looks feminine to me

8 Bowser Jr. Bowser Jr., or sometimes simply Jr., is a video game character who appears in Nintendo's Mario franchise as the secondary antagonist. He is the youngest son of the series' primary antagonist, Bowser.

What? No way! Why does he have to get a lot of hate?! He's so cute!

Hated by whiny koopaling fans who think he "stole" their place. It's not his fault that the koopalings suck.

Hated because 'muh Koopalings' or 'muh clones' even though he's better than both.

9 Wario Wario is a character in Nintendo's Mario series who was originally designed as an antagonist to Mario. His motives are driven by greed and he will take the side of whoever will give him the most pay. Although he may seem like just a mean man with no heart, he does have a very tragic past.

Unlike certain other characters he actually has a personality and backstory. Yet people hate him for being ugly and fat.Shame on all of you.

Because Smash ruined him

10 Koopalings

"Koopalings are just filler bosses" is something you hear often here. Also, ever heard the nickname "Krapalings"?

Bowturd jr fans hating on the koopalings is like Luigi fans hating on mario and calling him unoriginal. Awkward!

They do the same thing over again.

The Contenders
11 Wendy O. Koopa Wendy O. Koopa is a female villain in the Super Mario Bros. franchise. She is the only female member of the Koopalings and is usually found assisting Bowser on his wicked plans with the rest of the Koopalings. She first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 in 1988 and since then has been a reappearing foe in the Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. series. She has also appeared as a villain in the Paper Mario series and similar games. She is a playable character in the Mario Kart franchise and other spin-off series and can be played as an alternate skin to Bowser Jr. in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS and its sequel Ultimate for Switch.
12 Toadette Toadette is a character in the Mario series. She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube video game Mario Kart: Double Dash.
13 Pink Gold Peach Pink Gold Peach is a character who debuts in Mario Kart 8, where she appears as an unlockable playable character.

Good. She deserves it

14 Waluigi Waluigi is a lanky self-centered, brusque young lad as he is considered evil and the main rival of Luigi. Waluigi is shown causing local havoc in most games he appears in alongside his partner Wario. Waluigi is not instinctively evil or the antagonist (not counting DDR), as a matter of fact, he shows great compassion for his fellow peers, typically for characters Daisy and Wario. Waluigi is also described as lonely, rejected, sad, or depressed due to his relationship with the Super Smash Bros. franchise, and people outside of Nintendo continually rejecting him. In recent years, people have come to Waluigi's defense, giving him support and even starting a cult following. In sum, Waluigi is the ...read more.

It's all your guys' fault.

15 Metal Mario Metal Mario is a character that appears in both the Mario series and the Super Smash Bros, where he made his first appearance in the Nintendo 64 version. He's pretty similar to Mario when using a Metal Cap, but instead of being a transformation, Metal Mario is his own character.

He deserves it
