Mario Characters with the Most Tragic Backstory
I figured it's time to get into the Halloween Spirit. Mario is normally not very dark but what if we turn the tables? Who has the darkest story? Also this is completely speculations that I have heard.
His father was mistreated and abused by Mario and this poor child Kong had to save his own father from that animal abuser!
He fought in a supposed "Great Ape War" and died. Thus why he has yet to appear again

Wario was seen at the end of Yoshi's island arguing with baby Bowser and was never returned to his parents unlike the other babies. So Wario is technically an orphan

Bowser is the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. Franchise. From kidnapping Princess Peach to simply destroying a fun game between Mario and Friends in the Mario Party spinoff series, this king of the Koopas has set up a certain hatred towards himself amongst the large cast of Mario Characters. He first appeared in the 1985 popular videogame, Super Mario Bros., in which he was responsible for kidnapping Princess Toadstool (more commonly known as Princess Peach), which was released in Arcades and on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Videogame System. It's never revealed who Bowsers parents are or if they even exist. Some people speculate they died and he was raised to be evil by Kamek or something even creepier, created by Kamek himself... So either Bowser is an orphan or one of Kamek's creatures.
The Koopalings, or 7 Bowser Team in Japan, are a fictional group of seven childlike characters in the Mario video game franchise by Nintendo. Their individual names are Iggy, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig von, Morton Jr., Roy, and Wendy O. Koopa. Nintendo confirmed they are not Bowsers biological children. So some speculate they were adopted orphans.

It's speculated that his mother died when he was very young and Bowser even tries to hide the fact by telling him Peach was his mother in Mario Sunshine.
It's so sad he doesn't have a mother. But it can't be Princess Peach. There are many other girls. It can't be Princess Daisy because she slapped his father in Mario Party 3. It probably can't be Rosalina or Pauline either. So who can it be?

She first appeared in the 2007 Mario Game, Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii and later returned for the game's sequel in 2010. Since then, she has been featured in many main-series Mario Games and many spinoffs. She has appeared as a playable character in Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo Wii U in 2013 and is a playable character in the Mario Kart series and Mario Party series. She also has come into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS as a part of the large character roster. Rosalina's Mother died when she was young thus why she went to space and was caretaker of the Lumas.
Rosalina’s story is sad the Lumas mumma is lost and then her mom dies. I think this is a Little too tragic for a Nintendo backstory.
Count Bleck, true name Lord Blumiere, is the central antagonist turned anti-hero of the 2007 Nintendo Wii videogame Super Paper Mario. Should be much higher.

Donkey Kong is an arcade game released by Nintendo in 1981. It is an early example of the platform game genre, as the gameplay focuses on maneuvering the main character across a series of platforms while dodging and jumping over obstacles. There's speculation that if Donkey Kong Jr was DK's father that he went to fight in a supposed "Great Ape War" and died when DK was very young.
Wario is a character in Nintendo's Mario series who was originally designed as an antagonist to Mario. His motives are driven by greed and he will take the side of whoever will give him the most pay. Although he may seem like just a mean man with no heart, he does have a very tragic past. I don't know about Wario himself having a tragic backstory. I think it's technically baby Wario. Correct me if I'm wrong
Shy Guys are an enemy from the Mario and Yoshi series that have been seen in many games, and they are masked because of their shyness. Some speculate that Shy Guy was a failed creation by Kamek. And thus why he wears a mask.
Honey Queen (better known in Super Mario Galaxy as Queen Bee) is the queen of all the honeybees who is a very large bee and always talks nosism. She appears in both of the Super Mario Galaxy games, where she rules over all the honeybees in three different galaxies, and in Mario Kart 7 where she appears as a heavyweight unlockable driver. She doesn't even have a backstory. She's lifeless

Waluigi is a lanky self-centered, brusque young lad as he is considered evil and the main rival of Luigi. Waluigi is shown causing local havoc in most games he appears in alongside his partner Wario. Waluigi is not instinctively evil or the antagonist (not counting DDR), as a matter of fact, he shows great compassion for his fellow peers, typically for characters Daisy and Wario. Waluigi is also described as lonely, rejected, sad, or depressed due to his relationship with the Super Smash Bros. franchise, and people outside of Nintendo continually rejecting him.
