Top 10 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 200cc Shortcuts

Mario Kart has had some crazy shortcuts over the years and they can be a lot of fun to pull off. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not so different. 200cc can result in even crazier shortcuts being pulled off and that's probably one of the coolest things about it. Vote for your favorite Mario Kart 8 Deluxe shortcuts.
The Top Ten
1 Sky High Sundae Anti-Gravity Shortcut (no mushroom required)

Once again another shortcut discovered on Day 1. Gotta respect the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe community. This is another one possible on 150cc but once again it's easier on 200cc. For this shortcut you have to charge at least an orange mini turbo and release it and drive off the orange ice cream after the pink ice cream near the end and hold the joystick down to get more air. You will skip the rest of the ice cream and look cool while doing so. Gotta love the anti-gravity shortcuts. It's not that hard either. Probably my favorite shortcut in this game.

2 Big Blue Lap 2 Anti-Gravity Shortcut (no mushroom required)

On Lap 2 if you drift to the left of where the gate ends on the platform after the first ramp you will get a lot of air and you will do a nice shortcut that can be made even better if you hold down on the joystick and you will skip the turn you do normally and it's very fun to do. I recommend getting 10 coins as well because it gets you the most speed. Definitely one of the biggest shortcuts in the game. I kind of find it difficult though but that's nice to see in this game honestly.

Big Blue has quite a few really cool shortcut, and it's one of the reasons why it's the best track in the game.

3 Mushroom Gorge Gap Jump (mushroom required)

When I played Wave 2 for the first time, my initial question was whether the gap jump on Mushroom Gorge was possible, just like it was in Mario Kart Wii. To my delight, it was indeed possible, as it was also in Mario Kart 7, although in that game you had to use the glider to accomplish it, which doesn't work in this version. Towards the end of the lap, there's a final turn with a gap. As you approach it, drift into the gap, activate your mushroom, and perform a hop to successfully clear the gap. This maneuver can be quite challenging, and you may need to use your mushroom earlier to avoid gaining too much speed. However, once you manage to execute it, the satisfaction is immense. Furthermore, the respawn point is well-placed, and you might even avoid a shock with the respawn, making it a worthwhile endeavor. I'm glad this trick is still possible in the game. Additionally, it's worth noting that this can be done in 150cc as well, although it's considerably more difficult in that mode.

4 Ninja Hideaway Ending Shortcut (no mushroom required)

For a while I never knew this shortcut existed. Near the end of the lap you should be on the upper path after the glider section and continue to be on the upper path and at the very end of the upper path charge up an orange mini turbo and release it and trick off of the right hand side of the ramp. Next hold your joystick down and right at the same time and you should go over the trees and skip the whole turn at the end. This one is easier with a mushroom so I recommend practicing with a mushroom.

Ninja Hideaway is a masterpiece of a track, and the fact it has that shortcut at the end, only makes it even better.

5 Mute City (no mushroom required)

By far the best thing about anti-gravity in this game is how it can make insane shortcuts possible. If you mini turbo and hop before the first ramp at the end you can get some serious air and go over the offroad and it's really cool. I find it sort of hard though for whatever reason.

6 Dry Dry Desert Sand Shortcut (mushroom required)

This one is crazy but it does require at least triple mushrooms. Near the end of the lap if you start going to the far right and start using your mushrooms you can save a lot of time and it's a very easy shortcut so I'd say it's worth it. However if you get hit by anything, especially lightning you're really going to get screwed over, so I would only do this shortcut if you think you'll be safe. A shock dodge with a star while doing this shortcut is even more insane though.

7 Dragon Driftway Turn Cut (no mushroom required)

This one isn't that hard but it's pretty cool. Basically just charge a mini turbo at the turn in the beginning and you're done. Similar to the Mushroom Gorge gap jump.

This one is just really cool and satisfying to do.

8 Snow Land Turn Skip (mushroom required)

Pretty crazy how this shortcut was found on Day 1. At the beginning of the track if you drift in between the third and second last trees near the turn you can completely skip the turn. Also, fun fact the time trial ghost for 200cc does this shortcut so it was intentional.

This one anyone can do it, so I recommend you to try it out!

9 Yoshi Circuit Waterfall Shortcut (no mushroom required)

This one is way harder than 150cc in Mario Kart DS but I'm glad it's still possible because it is a lot of fun. Nintendo intended this shortcut to require mushrooms but you don't need them in 200cc which isn't that surprising considering how fast it is. You need to charge another mini turbo and I think aiming for the left side of the waterfall is a good idea.

10 Cheese Land Off-Road Shortcut (no mushrooms required)

This one is pretty cool especially because it's an off-road shortcut that you don't need any mushrooms for. If you charge an orange mini turbo and jump into the part at the bottom right of the picture attached you can actually make it shroomless. The off-road does still slow you down but it's still faster than not going for it. There's another shortcut near the end. If you charge another mini turbo you can make it to the first glider without mushrooms and save some time. That one honestly reminds me of the Kalimari Desert shortcut in Mario Kart 7.
