Best Super Mario RPG Games
The Top Ten Best Super Mario RPG Games
No way am I passing this one up, now before I say anything I will give spoilers for this who have not finished or seen the game, so with all do respect ignore this, but if you don't care... The game in of itself knew it was quirky, silly, and even downright fun to play, but what intrigued me the most was BOWSER being an ally to both Mario and Luigi, be it still rivals until you beat the game, which the final boss, dark star fawful and dark bowser were incredible, the music is something I could go back to and listen any time and not get enough even when I've listened for hours, hosting bowser and powering him up with the mario bros inside him felt oddly rewarding despite it being either short or sloggish mini-games, but people can say that the ending was tacked on, or out of no where, it's honestly not, think about it people. You have the host Bowser and Dark Bowser, with the manipulators for Bowser, Mario and Luigi, and for Dark Bowser, Dark Star Fawful, heck I dare say the final boss ...more
No, Super Mario RPG is underrated by modernists that call it "just a Final Fantasy ripoff/Mario version of Final Fantasy) and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story's predecessors are even greater than Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time's successors!
This is the best Mario RPG in my opinion. I think Super Mario RPG is overrated and this game gives character development to Bowser. We were also greeted with the best villain in Mario Games. - DCfnaf
Had the best music and best story ever!
Great game, although the backtracking sucks. My favorite Mario RPG along with Super Paper Mario and Superstar Saga. - SonicFan4Life
I LOVE THIS GAME. It kills me when people hate on it for trivial things, give it a chance for some of its great qualities that actually matter! If you really can't get into it, that's fine since everyone has different opinions and likes, but at least appreciate why others love it so much...although most people who play this game love it. The story, music, humor, gameplay, originality, bosses, locations, characters, and pretty much everything else are fantastic! This will always be my favorite Mario game even though I love pretty much all of the Mario RPG's for their originality and how immersive they are compared to other Mario games and how immersive they are. That's not to say I don't like all other Mario games though, since I do. Everyone, play this game! Give it a chance if you can't see past an annoying voice or "bad" graphics or whatever, or if you only play "main" Super Mario games-what lies ahead of you is an experience you'll never forget.
I really don't understand how anybody could rank this above Super. I mean both are awesome games but something about Super is just so charming. IRTO though - darthvadern
I love this game so much that seeing what nintendo have done to the series makes me very sad I struggle to find flaws with it. ITS MY FAVOURITE GAME EVER
Truly amazing... unique villains, amazing soundtracks... what more could you want?
This game is so much fun to play! I never get bored of it, and the music is amazing. - benpiano800
Oh how I love this game! It's jam-packed with funny writing and characters, still executing slapstick well (reminder that you literally do slapstick actions to advance in the the dream world.) And the music is likely the best in the series. (rivaled by it's previous entry.) - VeryPissedOffCinnabon
One of the most unique mario RPG's out there along with Super Paper Mario and Superstar Saga! The story and gameplay is so creative and unique and the dream world concept is amazing! Let's not forget the excellent Antasma! And am I the only one who never had a problem with the tutorials and graphics? - darthvadern
This is the BEST! Bowser's inside story and Super Mario RPG are very close runner-ups. PS: Super Paper Mario isn't an RPG!
I grew up playing this as a kid and you know what its one of the most nostalgic games ever behind Super Mario Bros1,2,and 3and Mario 64,Mario Kart 1.Also in October 2017 a enhanced remake of this game released. It lacks the charm of the original but still is good.
I know it's taken a while to decide this, and believe me that Dream Team and Super Paper Mario are EXTREMELY close runner-ups, but this is simply the most fun out of all the Mario RPGS. Um, in my opinion. - Garythesnail
Really awesomne! - darthvadern
Why is this at the lowest rank? It's a really great game.
My favorite game ever! - myusernameisthis
Amazing game. - MaxPap
This kis super pape rmario covers but paper Mario is a great game. - HeavyDonkeyKong
This is perhaps the most underrated game on Wii. More than any other Mario RPG, this game mixes platformer with RPG and the results are incredible. The 2D/3D dynamic also adds a healthy does of exploration into the mix. Like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night or Resident Evil 4, Super Paper Mario is one of those rare titles that manages to blend several genres into something that feels completely unique.
This is unquestionably a lot better than PMTTYD! Oh, man, this RPG has the best graphics, plot, voice acting & music ever! This game totally rocks! I would give this game an 8.3 score.
Super Paper Mario is my favorite Mario RPG due to being one hell of a groundbreaker, great graphics, non-confusing text, awesome characters, great elements, Princess Peach having a much better role/voice that in The Thousand Year Door & Sticker Star.
The top 1 best Paper Mario game is Super Paper Mario. This game gets an 8.3 score)
The top 2 best Paper Mario game is the original Paper Mario on the N64 & Virtual Console. This game gets a 7.8 score.
The top 3 best Paper Mario game is Paper Mario: Sticker Star. This game gets a score of 4.7 score.
The top 4 best Paper Mario game is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. This game gets a 2.0 score.
This is a PLATFORMER, I know the rest of Paper Mario is RPG but this is the only exception. - myusernameisthis
I am surprised, yet pleased, to see this game come first. I would have expected Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door or Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars to be in first place, and most people say that TTYD is the best in the series, but for me Super Paper Mario is ace.
Anyone who played this when it was new understands that it is by far the best. It's literally the reason this list exists!
This game is my favourite! I also love Paper Mario 64, Super Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, and Bowser's Inside Story is wonderful enjoyable game too, but this one started Mario's trilogy of RPGs, therefore gets my vote.
Super story line, great music, drama (I cried playing the game man! ) and TONS of fun. You can play it, your nieces can play it and still it will be awesome. A classic.
For me that is not a big fan of RPG games, I actually LOVED this game. One of my favorites.
This honestly should've gotten a remake on the Switch instead of Bowser's Inside Story's pointless 3DS remake, despite both being great games
This one isn't my absolute favorite Mario RPG, but I LOVE it! All the Mario RPG games are fantastic in my opinion (with the exception of Sticker Star and Paper Jam, which were alright but lacking in many departments) but PIT often gets overlooked for some reason. I don't know why, since it's great! The music is good, the bosses are fun, the locations are cool to explore, the babies and time travel add an extra layer to the already fun gameplay of Mario and Luigi games, the story is intense and has amazing plot twists, and the entire game is immersive! It's a little short, but that's my only complaint. People sometimes complain about enemies having too much HP, or that buying special attacks is annoying, but I found no big problem with either of these things. Play this game!
Great storytelling, amazing new features, cover in exiting, plot twists I never saw coming, great Idea, introduces how baby forms of characters can come to go kart and play games, great new characters. I have a blast replaying the game every time.
This game was my favourite, it is way better than Bowser inside story
Crossover between Paper Mario, Mario, and Luigi. It's all I ever wanted.
This game is very underrated, it surely is very generic and bland but there's so much good stuff about this one, one thing is Paper Mario, he makes the battle system so much more interesting and has these trio attacks. I also LOVE the papercraft battles, are are so unique and entertaining and give me Nintendo Labo vibes. However, one problem is that when you level up, normally in other mario rpg's you get to choose a stat to rise up even more, but you can't do that here, instead you must wait until the next rank and then you can choose a stat to rise up extra during level-ups - darthvadern
I think Paper Jam is better than Sticker Star and Partners in Time. I was worried about them going on the NSMB route with the characters, but it's okay because they did it well. However the levels are bland and the papercraft battles are dumb. But the regular bosses are really good! I have mixed feelings about this one. It's better than some of the other games on here though. - DCfnaf
Only #11? Below Sticker Star and PiT? To each their own, I guess... - Garythesnail
What? This game was awesome! It's more fun than any other Paper Mario titles. Give it a try, it's not just a Sticker Star 2.0.
The most overlooked Mario game of all time.
Should be above Sticker Star - darthvadern
This is an amazing game that made buying the superstar saga remake worth it
This remake was pointless, the 3DS is already backwards compatible with DS games so it was just a waste of money for Nintendo to remake it! - myusernameisthis
Since I don't own as GBA I played this version. One of the greatest mario games of all time! - darthvadern
Better then the original
I played this game pretty soon after it came out, and I really liked it. People complain that the story is just bowser took peach, go get her back. The original paper mario had that plot as well, so that's not an issue. The bosses require certain stickers to use to beat them. The boss battles make it clear what stickers to use. A poison soaked squid, suck up the poison with a sponge. A giant snow monster, use a heat sticker. The navigation it pretty clear. It tells what world it is, so you do them in order. It also says the order of levels so you know what order to do them in. Although the lack of levels was sad and you couldn't feel overpowered, I say play this game. 9/10
Someone's going to hate me for adding this game. I feel like it deserves a little more love. It in't a good Paper Mario game, but the music is great, it's good for on-the-go Paper Mario, the linear world map is nice, and for an early-ish 3DS game, it looks pretty good. The battle system is okay, but not amazing.
Higher than the other Paper Mario games... - HeavyDonkeyKong
Is this a real game?
