1 Dead Per Yngve Ohlin, better known by his stage name Dead, was a Swedish black/death metal vocalist and lyricist best known for his work with Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. He committed suicide in 1991 in which former guitarist Euronymous took a few pictures of his corpse and used one of them as the front cover for one of Mayhem's live albums, Dawn of the Black Hearts.

Recruited from Swedish Death Metal band Morbid, Dead joined Mayhem in 1988. He was the primary songwriter, although he never appeared on a studio album, he is credited as one of the greatest black metal vocalists. His vocals are heard in demo albums and live albums only. He committed suicide in 1991

His vocals are pretty cool to be honest and go well with the type of music Mayhem made and I'm not even a fan of them. Also, he looks a bit like Kurt Cobain with longer hair and face paint, oof.

The founding guitarist. He is known for his satanic beliefs and outrageous acts. After Dead's suicide, Euronymous made necklesses from his skull and allegedly ate some of his brains. He was murdered in 1993 by then-bassist Count Grishnackh (Varg Vikernes)

Vocalist heard on Deathcrush, Grand Declaration of War, Chimera, and Wolf's Lair Abyss. Maniac was known for his erratic behavior on stage, including cutting himself. He was forced to leave in 2004 because of this

7 Varg Vikernes Louis Cachet, (born Kristian Vikernes) more popularly known as Varg Vikernes, is a Norwegian musician, writer, and a convicted murderer and arsonist. He is known as the frontman of the one-man band Burzum (named after a word in the Black Speech, which is a fictional language in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings), which is considered one of the most influential bands in black metal history. He's also known for murdering Mayhem guitarist Euronymous and was sentenced to 21 years in prison in 1994.

During his stint with Mayhem, he was known as Count Grishnackh. He is better known as the man behind Burzum. He joined in 1992 following Necrobutcher leaving. He performed bass on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Vikernes left in 1993 after he was sentenced to 21 years in prison after murdering fellow band mate Euronymous and church arson.

10 Blasphemer Rune Eriksen is a Norwegian Spellemann-award winning musician and composer. He is best known as the former guitarist in the black metal band Mayhem under the stage name Blasphemer, which he took from a Sodom song.

Blasphemer joined as guitarist after Euronymous was killed and Blackthorn was imprisoned. He played with the band for 14 years.

He briefly played guitar and wrote riffs for Mayhem along with Euronymous. In 1993, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison as an accomplice to Euronymous' murder. Vikernes maintains that Blackthorn was "in the wrong place at the wrong time."
