Top Ten Most Mean Spirited Cartoon Episodes

The Top Ten
1 Boys of Bummer (The Simpsons)

As somebody whose aunt had actually committed suicide in real life, I will flat out say that this episode is an absolute disgrace! I would appreciate it if writers stop making mean spirited episodes like this... suicide truly is no joke and actually destroys families...

To all writers... For the love of God... STOP MAKING THESE TYPES OF EPISODES. You cannot make suicide, even attempted suicide, a thing to joke about. Boys of Bummer should never have been written.

Plot: Bart loses his baseball team the championship game and EVERYONE in town hates him for it. To the point where they take him away in a police car and encourage him to commit suicide.

I absolutely HATE chief wiggum. He drives Bart back into the stadium so people can throw their trash at him and tells Bart to jump from the water tower, which he does

2 Arnold Betrays Iggy (Hey Arnold)

After I saw this, I screamed. One time, I dared myself to watch this again, and I nearly went insane. I know that's weird, but really, I almost did.

I agree with this. Sid and Stinky are jerks. They should be sorry for what they did, but no they're not.

It's the most Mean-Spirited episode I ever saw when I was younger
iggy was also being punished for it, I hate this episode

3 Benderama (Futurama)
4 One Coarse Meal (Spongebob Squarepants)

Okay, Nickelodeon. What made you think suicide was funny? It's NOT! This episode has made your fans even more mad. If you guys aren't careful, they'll come straight to your studioes and rip it to shreads

What kind of an idiot would think this episode is funny? This episode is nothing but an atrocious mess.

Plankton almost killed HIMSELF. This episode should be banned. And Krabs Needs to get arrested.

This episode is HORRIBLE! I'm not sure if it was supposed to be funny, but if it was, that's SICK.

5 Your Ed Here (Ed Edd n Eddy)

I would have used the same scam the Eds used in The Big Picture Show on those kids!

This might have worked if kevins was marrium why did you punish edd

6 I Only Have Suprise for You (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends)

I thought I was the only one who felt poor for Mac! I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I especially agree with this one. Poor Mac! Why would Bloo do that?!

7 Stuck in the Wringer (Spongebob Squarepants)

Just another way to show that Spongebob is getting worse over time. It's gotta end someday, the franchise has gone on for too long and episodes like this prove it

SpongeBob gets trapped in a wringer and glued in by Patrick, gets thrown out of work, gets injured more along the way, and people hate him. However, that is not the worst of it...

Let this quote set the tone for the episode... "You know, kid, your body isn't the problem. It's your heart! You deserve what you've gotten! Come on, we're out of here! "

what?!... Victim blaming in the episode even though Patrick is the one at fault?!... and worst of all, nobody apologizing to SpongeBob at the end for this insult?! And also only crying solves your problems? WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE IS THAT?!

Zeus Cervas, if you are reading this... I want you to know that due to this one episode, you are one of the worst writers of all time and I hope someone takes away your pen and paper before you write an idea! You are a failure of a writer and need to stop with gross out and cruelty to fictional characters! What (you had think) worked on CatDog doesn't work in SpongeBob ...more

I am going to talk about everything that is wrong with this episode while also focus on a psychological standpoint. I will also give my own opinion of this episode.

Firstly, unessary cruelty in these amounts doesn't just lead to one crying, but can also lead one into mental illness and, at times, suicide! Secondly, depression isn't something to joke about.

This episode should be banned from television. Its episodes like this give reasoning that mean spirited episodes shouldn't be made!

In a quick recap... Patrick shows little to no sympathy or even empathy for Spongebob's pain, Mr. Krabs suspends Spongebob from work instead of showing concern for the health of his employee, nobody wishes to help him', and worst of all... EVERYONE BLAMES SPONGEBOB FOR SOMETHING THAT PATRICK CAUSED!

This episode is nothing but mental illness inducing! Watching this episode
for the first time, I felt sick to my stomach. Nickelodeon and United Plankton Pictures need to keep ...more

Why should I be crying over an episode of Spongebob? Here's my reason...

This is just unnecessary cruelty and is far from being funny!... It's episodes like this that turn people off and make people turn away from watching T.V.. Please stop making these kinds of episodes Nickelodeon... We know Spongebob has some adult humor in it, but do you really have to make adults feel upset? Learn from your mistakes l, listen to your viewers and actually moderate these episodes before airing them so that it won't lead to your downfall!

8 Laugh Quake (Sanjay and Craig)

It's the only episode from that bad show that is considered to be very mean-spirited. And they did'nt give no remorse or guilt of other characters in the show. Mostly some characters like Arnold from that episode Arnold Betrays Iggy where Arnold was humiliated for wearing that bunny costume. You may felt bad for Arnold. But for this show, you will never know which character will feel bad for. Nothing. But what's the point of the title called Laugh Quake.

It's like the Earth just laughed? Or the ground shakes because of laughter?
I'll show that joke:

Yo Mama so Fat, when she laughed it gets earthquake.

Everyone is being jerks about how Sanjay and Craig laugh. But then they turn the tables, and they start mocking other peoples laughs.

I may hate sanjay and craig but this was mean-spirited

9 Ren Seeks Help (Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon)

It's one thing for Ren to be slightly psychopathic, but for him to turn into a sadistic and completely abusive monster? Lord! Ren does things like torture animals for the sick amusement of it, such as tormenting a frog to the point that he wants to die. Naturally, at this point, Ren refuses to kill him on the grounds that he suffers more. Oh, and he beat Mr. Horse to death with his own gun in a psychotic rage at the end.

I put this here because of all the crap Ren does in this episode.

10 A Tale of Two Santas (Futurama)
The Contenders
11 A Pal for Gary (SpongeBob SquarePants)
12 Dexter vs Santa Claws (Dexter's Laboratory)

Honest Opinion, worst christmas special to ever air on Cartoon Network. The episode defines the commercialization of a treasured holiday to its finest and shows Dexter, his parents, and Dee Dee all as jerks who only care about Christmas for just the "presents".

Usually when Christmas specials aired on Cartoon Network, I would usually watch them all as a kid. As for this one, well... let's just say that I change the channel when this one airs.

You know it's bad when the moral is "Christmas is all about presents".

13 If It Smells Like An Ed (Ed, Edd n Eddy)

One of the most mean-spirited episodes, where in this episode, the Eds got blamed for committing crimes they didn't do, get chased and beaten by the neighborhood kids, get taped on a fenced wall and have fruit thrown at them, and get dragged away by the Kanker sisters to get sexually harassed. It's all thanks Jimmy, who framed not only Eddy who really embarrassed him through a wedgy, but also unfairly Ed and Double-D. Everyone, even Nazz, were extremely mean and cruel to the Eds and quickly accused inaccurately. And the most infuriating part: the Eds failed to get their names cleared, every character except the Eds wins, Jimmy gets away Scott-free (despite slipping a banana peel), and the Eds suffered overly large amounts of HELL!

Makes me cringe

14 Everyone Knows It's Bendy (Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends)

I actually consider this as the worst episode of the show. Even the writer, Lauren Faust, hates the episode. This is how not to write an episode of Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. Yes, we all hate Bendy, but what hurts this episode more are how Mr. Herriman and Frankie were written and how they blame Bloo, Wilt, Coco, and Eduardo. What else kills this episode is the fact that there is no resolve at the end. I absolve Lauren Faust of all accidental wrong doing, but I condemn Bendy and this episode to hell for all of eternity.

The fact that there is no resolve at the end of this episode in regards to Bloo, Edwardo, Wilt, and Coco being punished and that Bendy never gets in trouble makes me hate this episode and also hate Mr. Harriman and Frankie. It's reasons like this why mean spirited episodes should not exist in cartoons unless the series is meant to be mean spirited throughout. To all cartoon writers out there... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP MAKING MEAN SPIRITED EPISODES!

15 Let's Play Justice Masters (Kaeloo)

The plot of the episode is that Mr. Cat goes to the doctor and the doctor tells him that he's really stressed. The audience finds out that it's because he has to hang out with Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack all the time. He goes home and tells the other three that he needs to rest for a while. They try to "help". Mr. Cat gets tortured for the rest of the episode to the point where he almost cries.

As much as I love Kaeloo, there's one thing I've never understood: The less evil a character does in an episode, the more they get punished. I mean, Mr. Cat practically gets away with horrible actions in episodes like "Let's Play House", but in this one, he suffers horribly despite having done nothing to deserve it, like Squidward.

Two things: one, this episode was unbelievably cruel. Two, Mr. Cat did literally nothing to deserve everything that happened in this episode. At least in the other episodes he's kind of a prick but HE DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING HERE!

I know this is a Kaeloo episode, but even by this show's standards, this episode was heartless. At least in other episodes, Mr. Cat does something horrible to deserve the punishment he gets, but here he didn't do anything at all.

16 No Such Luck (The Loud House)

Lynn Jr forces Lincoln to go to her baseball game via threatening him with a bat. When she loses said game, Lincoln tries to apologize, only for her to say he is bad luck. For some dumb reason, he goes along with it. Things get bad when his whole family excludes him from things, lock him out of his room, and eventually, lock him out of the house. He confesses, but they still don't believe him. Lincoln wins their trust back by dressing in a squirrel suit. Then, Rita blatantly admits that they sold his furniture and poor Lincoln is left to wear the squirrel suit on the beach. Easily the WORST episode of Loud House. The backlash this got was off the charts.

This episode just doesn't make sense. It's certainly the worst episode of this show. Also I've seen a lot of hate art for this on Deviantart, sure Lynn was a jerk but why can't the fans let it go?

17 It's a Wishful Life (The Fairly Odd Parents)

Why Isn't this Higher?

18 Seahorse Seashell Party (Family Guy)
19 Little Yellow Book (SpongeBob SquarePants)

Although I do admit that what Squidward did was wrong, I hate how everybody in town does it worse. They enjoy the diary until SpongeBob runs off crying. The rest of the episode is Squidward being hated by everyone, making front page news, losing his house, and being arrested and publicly humiliated all because he read someone DIARY!

I have a reason to be upset. In Bikini Bottom, not only can you be arrested for reading someone's diary and teaching a student who destroys half the town, but it's perfectly okay to stalk someone and even sell fish meat on the open market.

I hate every character in this episode except for spongebob and mr. Krabs. Everyone else is either a jerk, hypocrite or police officer who will arrest you for reading a DIARY!

I actually liked that episode, just not the ending

20 Herpe, the Love Sore (Family Guy)

Brian should have told Stewie and Chris if he had herpes in the first place and also he's a gold digger towards women. Kevin Swanson (Joe's son) is hot by the way!

21 Butterfly Effect (The Loud House)

How is this mean spirited?

22 American Fung (American Dad)
23 Adventures in Winslowland (CatDog)
24 Demolition Doofus (SpongeBob SquarePants)
25 The Last Mabelcorn (Gravity Falls)

Celestabethabelle should get beaten up by Kaeloo or raged at by Unikitty!
