Best Medieval Movies of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Braveheart

Braveheart feels such as something similar to the film 300, except on the English soil of or in the past.

A durable and striking movie

2 Gladiator

A Roman general which ends out in the gladiatorial arenas to fight as one for the Emperor Commodus. The number of custom made weaponry and armor is astounding and an endless reel of which one has affinity over the other and loops to the start again. As gruesome as it is there is a sadistic interest about it to wish what might it play out not just in imagination but the real world as well.

This isn't a Medieval movie, it's a Ancient Roman movie. The Medieval era started after the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD, in this film the Western Roman Empire is still very much alive and thriving...

This is a Roman film

3 Rob Roy
4 Ironclad
5 Black Death
6 Robin Hood

From the Hill Tops, those longbow units with a small palisade encampment could tear down huge number of cavalry no matter how good the armor or weapons are. It is of historic importance to remember. This film draws the best of it through, cool!

I did not see it complete but it is excellent

7 Excalibur

Excalibur although it has base in mythology - the real medieval history does show that such things in the most that comprise it did in fact exist. The idea is the charm with the film Excalibur. Merlin the opposite team wields magic and that is not evident in non-fiction although a lot of close relations to that of magic might have seem to been real close to magic and stuff so Excalibur represents that in a much different way however it is fictitious as of still. A great movie though - awesome interpretations that should not be left out in this opinion. Two sides of more than 10 is a nice skirmish for medieval and it is rightfully done in such movie feature films or presentations. Good!

8 The Seventh Seal
9 The Name of the Rose
10 Kingdom of Heaven

One of the best movies about the historic events which are comprising of the Crusades. Mostly a fine representation of the medieval daily life as well as the more crucial moments of the citizens and warriors alike. Really ties together nicely and is similar to Gladiator really. Neatly a presentation material of the best thus far!

Crusaders rejoice! From Europe to beyond.

The Contenders
11 First Knight
12 Seven Samurai
13 Monty Python and the Holy Grail
14 The Sword in the Stone
15 The Princess Bride
16 Les Visiteurs

Absolute cracking movie which isn't very well known these days. It's about two Medieval people (a knight and his squire) who accidently travel forward in time to the year 1993 (the year the film was released). It's a comedy, and it's a good one at that! It brilliantly showcases how a Medieval person would react to modern society, such as cars, industrial noise and smells, T.V. etc. I highly recommend this film.
