The Top Ten
1 Jimi Hendrix Jimi Hendrix (born November 27, 1942 - September 18, 1970) was an American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music". Hendrix is consistently ranked on lists of musicians who died too soon.

Seriously, how has nobody voted for Jimi Hendrix? He was one of the most influential guitarists ever as well as one of the most important icons in music!

He died in one of the most horrible ways possible at such a young age and way too soon! Yet he achieved so much in such a short career, just like Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, etc.!

2 Kurt Cobain Kurt Cobain was born February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. In 1987, he started the grunge band Nirvana, which became one of the most successful bands ever. He was a talented yet troubled grunge performer. Kurt Cobain became a rock legend in the 1990s with his band. He committed suicide at his Seattle home in 1994.

Kurt Cobain was the leader of one of the most important bands ever: Nirvana! That revolutionized the grunge music and revived rock. Although Hendrix was also very important, Cobain was the best. He's a legend!

3 Jim Morrison James Douglas "Jim" Morrison was an American singer, songwriter, and poet best remembered as the lead singer of the Doors.

One of the best lead singers of the best rock bands ever.

4 Janis Joplin Janis Joplin (1943-1970) was an American singer who rose to fame as the main singer of acid band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She was known for her eccentric hippie style and psychedelic rock music.

Me and Bobby McGee will always remain in my heart.

Arguably the best female rock singer ever.

5 Brian Jones Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones was an English musician, the founder and the original leader of the Rolling Stones.

Easily the most underrated Stone. He was actually very talented and didn't deserve to die in such a horrible way. (Drowning is my worst fear! )

6 Robert Johnson Robert Leroy Johnson was an American blues singer-songwriter and musician. His landmark recordings in 1936 and 1937 display a combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that has influenced later generations of musicians. Johnson died in 1938 at the age of 27. The exact circumstances of his death are still unclear today. His death makes him one of the earliest members of the so-called "Club 27".

7 Amy Winehouse Amy Jade Winehouse was an English singer and songwriter known for her deep expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz. She is also a well-known member of the 27 Club, as she overdosed on alcohol at age 27.

Amy Winehouse was (and still is) a jazz and motown legend... She paved the way for Adele and many others in the music industry with her strong voice, and genuinely raw and emotional lyrics. Although she did have problems with addictions and a stormy relationship with her husband, Blake, she still inspired many people around the world with her music... She will always be remembered by those who she touched with her music. RIP Amy Jade Winehouse.

14 Richey Edwards Richard James "Richey" Edwards was a Welsh musician who was the lyricist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers.

He was a great lyricist and the perfect example that sometimes troubled minds make the most intelligent ones. Battled with mental illness, self-harm and anorexia. Richey was a demostration of what a strong person is really like.

He may not have died. He went missing and was never found. He almost certainly died... but their is an extremely small chance that he is alive.
