Top 10 Most Memorable Disney Animated Villains

Remember when Disney made great villains? Those were the days. But at least we still remember them very well. So here are the most memorable Disney animated villains!
The Top Ten
1 Claude Frollo

This guy is pure evil. The first thing he does in the movie is kill Quasimodo's mother and then tried to drown him as a baby in a well. That's pretty damn dark, especially for a Disney movie, and its only 5 minutes in. The rest of the movie he essentially keeps Quasi prisoner in Notre Dame, claiming he is raising him and convinces him to never go outside because he is a monster. And this is before Esmeralda enters the picture, who Frollo disturbingly lusts over, including sniffing her hair (its as perverted as it sounds). And then there's Hellfire, without a doubt the darkest song Disney has ever produced, where he decides if he can't have Esmeralda, she will be burned at the stake for 'witchcraft.' And there's also his attempted genocide against the gypsies, the burning of innocent people because Esmeralda escaped, and the attempted murders of Esmeralda, Phoebes and Quasimodo. This guy is so much more evil than any other villain. And worst of all, he claims he is a good-hearted ...more

A lot of Disney villains are evil only in terms of their stories. A lot of their actions aren't "evil" per say. They just hurt the main characters. Frollo is a villain who's evil in real-world standards. He's a seriously demented person who is willing to do absolutely despicable things for his own gain. He's just a monster. So yeah, he's really memorable.

This guy is just awesome! I mean, wow! He is the definition of a great villain! He is the main reason why Hunchback is as dark as it is! He burns down Paris so he could capture Esmeralda! He doesn’t let anything get in his way! He doesn’t care if lives are lost! He was even willing to harm a baby! And of course he has the coolest villain song of all time! That song is by far the darkest Disney moment ever! Frollo is one of the main reasons why I love Hunchback so much! It has a dark tone to it and Frollo is a huge reason why it does!

This guy was awesome. The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a favorite of mine growing up and I have to say it still is.

2 Scar Scar is the main antagonist of Disney's 1994 animated feature film, The Lion King. He was the second son of Ahadi and Uru — who were, at one time, King and Queen of the Pride Lands — the younger brother of Mufasa, and the uncle of Simba.

Claude frollo is only creepy, scar is downright terrifying. Claude frollo kills a mother and attempts to kill a baby, scar killed his own brother and almost kills his Nefew. Claude frollo lusts after someone, scar lusts for power and actually succeeds. Claude frollo fell into a pit of fire, scar was eaten alive AND burned at once! If you think about it, scar is way darker than Claude frollo.

Thank you for respecting my opinion. I'll respect yours if you respect mine. If you don't like what I say, then don't reply to my comments at all and just avoid. I have the right to my free speech.

You! Are nothing but a evil wicked idiotic backstabbing black yellow green orange brother!

He’s great. But you should fear Chernabog more than him. Chernabog is more scarier, powerful, darker, and more evil than Scar, Frollo, or any other Disney Villains.

3 Maleficent Maleficent is the main antagonist of Disney's 1959 animated feature film Sleeping Beauty. An evil fairy, Maleficent is an incarnation of pure evil, and is responsible for all misfortune in King Stefan's kingdom.

Maleficent put the cool in evil. As cruel as she may be she actually stands as quite the powerful and independent role model. She is a hard worker, and has a creative mind. Specially with Disney's new "Descendats" "Descendants 2" and the maleficent movie starring Angelina Jolie. Her backstory does show all reasoning on poisoning Aurora. She has good intentions. She has reasons. Other Disney villains have been doing all this for beauty and selfishness. But maleficent has a broken heart. That shows her true colors, as evil as she was, we should always forgive broken hearts. She was the one who saved aurora, got her a prince, and took all the blame. Cause I don't know if y'all watched "Maleficent" (the movie) but it all gets explained there. Netherless, Maleficent rocks! -Anonymous

When talking about memorable villains, it would be impossible NOT to bring up Maleficent. Because she’s awesome! Regardless of what you think about Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent was the best thing about it! She is a true evil character! She doesn’t let anyone or anything stop her from getting what she wants! She puts a spell in Aurora as a baby which would cause her to poke her finger on a spinning wheel on her 16th birthday and go into a permanent nap. And that’s just because the king and queen dissed her! The best thing about her is that she’s able to turn into a dragon! How awesome is that!? I really hate how they portrayed her in the live action movie. She went from being the mistress of evil to being a misunderstood girl! I really hated that! Although, Angelina Jolie did a pretty good job. So yeah, Maleficent is extremely memorable! An awesome villain!

Uh guys Maleficent is not a evil Villain anymore she is good! And A-Maleficent is not Disney"s most evil female Villain! And B-She has her own movie with her name spelled in it Maleficent! So she is not a evil Villain sheesh

Yeah I think she is the most memorable because, even if you just see horns and even just a shadow of horns you immediately think its maleficent

4 Ursula Ursula is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 28th animated feature film The Little Mermaid.

Is it wrong that I wanted Ursula to win in the end? You know you made your main character unlikeable when the villain doesn’t seem like the bad guy. I wonder how many lists I can make in which I bash Ariel. Anyway, Ursula really is that great of a villain! From her sinister look to her evil laugh to her determination, she’s just so awesome! Seriously! Why did Ariel think making a deal with her would be a good idea? The moment when Ursula really shows how frightening she can be is during the climax when she turns giant! She looks like a real threat and even speaks in a deeper more intimidating voice! Ursula may be evil, but she is a memorable and likeable character! Unlike Ariel!

That mole though

5 Hades

Hades is one of the only good things about Hercules. I actually kind of found him funny at times. He’s the only character in the movie that actually made me laugh. He’s not just funny though. He can also be very frightening. Especially when he’s angry. He literally turns red with anger. I may not like the movie he’s in, but Hades was definitely the highlight. My only negative is that he believed Pain and Panic when they told him that Hercules was dead. But being the ruler of the underworld, couldn’t he have checked to see if Hercules’ soul was with the other souls? Other than that, he really stands out as a great villain.

He's hilarious, especially when he gets angry.

He is actually really good

6 Jafar Jafar is the main antagonist of Disney's 31st full length animated feature film Aladdin. Jafar is introduced as the sinister Royal Vizier to Agrabah's Sultan who desires power over Agrabah.

Only 4 months until I see the Aladdin Broadway musical! Jafar is one of my favorite Disney villains and a lot of people seem to agree! His overall appearance is enough to make us feel a little nervous whenever he appears on screen. It also makes me wonder why the Sultan ever trusted him. He acts serious through most of the movie, but can also be pretty psychotic. Like in the climax. His evil laugh is crazy! And when he turned into a snake, I kept thinking that Aladdin didn’t stand a chance against him! Truly a memorable villain!

Jafar because he's weird and EVIL!
He is probably 40-60 years old and threatens Jasmine 16-20 year old woman to marry him HAHA! He also tortures an old man that is very odd.
LOL!

Hercules has a T.V. show, there is a crossover episode where Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, and Jafar come to Hades and Hercules.

7 Chernabog Chernabog is a Disney villain from the 1940s film Fantasia, and in his segment, "A Night on Bald Mountain".

Chernabog is my absolute favorite Disney villain! He is just so dark and has fun with it! He is quite possibly the scariest villain Disney has come up with. His whole scene in Fantasia has such a frightening and dark tone. It’s among one of the darkest scenes in Disney history. The design of him is very impressive! But the problem is not too many people seem to mention him when talking about great Disney villains. I guess I can kind of understand why. He doesn’t have a lot of screen time. He only appears for the one segment in the movie. But that segment really showed how dark Disney can get! I wish Chernabog got more recognition.

Best Villain ever! Scar sucks.

8 Yzma Yzma is the royal adviser of Emperor Kuzco in 'The Emperor's New Groove'. She is also a mad potions master and after being fired by Kuzco, she tries to use her potions to get rid of him and instate herself as empress.

You don't remember her for her evil deeds but with her failed schemes

She's so comical.

9 Captain Hook Captain James Hook is a fictional character, the antagonist of J. M. Barrie's play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up and its various adaptations, in which he is Peter Pan's archenemy.

I was gonna make a very inappropriate joke involving the word “hook” but I’m gonna try to keep this list PG. Captain Hook is my favorite Disney pirate. Sorry Jack, but Hook is far better. Out of all the Disney villains, he is the funniest. He constantly tries to defeat Peter Pan, but it usually ends up backfiring in a very cartoonish and comedic way. It’s very entertaining to watch. And with his sidekick, Mr. Smee, we are guaranteed to get a lot of comedy from them. The comedic timing is absolutely perfect! I haven’t watched Peter Pan in a long time, but Captain Hook is the most memorable thing about it.

He's definitely a favorite of mine. I'm glad he's never killed off. He's hilarious!

10 Gaston Gaston is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 30th animated feature film Beauty and the Beast.
The Contenders
11 Cruella De Vil Cruella de Vil is a fictional character who appeared in Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians, Disney's animated film adaptations 101 Dalmatians and 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure, and Disney's live-action film adaptations 101 Dalmatians and 102 Dalmatians as the main antagonist.

If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will. You know a character is evil when they have the word “cruel” in their name. I mean, she attempts to capture a bunch of puppies so she could turn them into accessories! That is so mean! As a puppy lover, this makes me very scared. Some of her facial expressions really show how terrifying of a person she is. I saw the live action film and even though Glen Close did a pretty good job, it didn’t come close to the genius of the animated version. I personally thought this version was a lot more evil. The live action version of her was more silly than evil. Cruella De Vil is one terrifying villain.

CRUELla dE VIL. She has these two words in her name so she is really evil.

12 The Evil Queen

The Evil Queen was the very first Disney villain from the very first Disney movie! And she is very memorable mainly because of that. She wants to get rid of Snow White because she’s jealous of her looks. Kind of a weak motivation, but her determination alone is what makes her so great! She hires a huntsman to end her and she even transforms herself into Meryl Streep and feeds Snow White a poisonous apple. I also like how throughout most of the movie, the queen doesn’t smile. She always looks so serious in an intimidating way. And then when she turns into the old hag, she just becomes creepy. I always found that to be pretty cool. They made her frightening in two different ways. Which is why she is such an iconic villain.

I completely agree with what MegaSoulhero commented. The Evil Queen was the first Disney villain, and is very memorable because of that.

When I sleep...i can't stop thinking about this villain! she's my favorite one because she's really creepy at all

Dude look at her

13 Dr. Facilier
14 Mother Gothel Mother Gothel is the main antagonist of Disney's 2010 animated feature film, Tangled. She is a wicked crone who retained youth for hundreds of years through the healing properties of a magic, golden flower.

She wanted Rapunzel's hair to keep her young forever. Without it, she is old.

15 Lady Tremaine

Those eyes are the ones who made Cinderella obey her because it brings nightmares.

16 Horned King

I only put him on here cause he's the most memorable part of The Black Cauldron.

He's just terrifying!

17 Hopper (A Bugs Life)
18 Shere Khan

I love Tigers! They're so awesome!

19 Sid Phillips Sid Phillips is a fictional character in the Toy Story franchise. He serves as the primary antagonist of the original Toy Story film.

The way he flipped out when the toys came after him was definitely memorable. Funniest part in the movie, in my opinion.

20 The Coachman (Pinocchio)

He literally kidnapped little boys, imprisoned them in seclusion on a shady ASF island, gave them cigarettes that turned them into donkeys forever, and then sent them into the slave mines to be sadistically tortured. If that's not evil then I don't know what is.

He's pure evil. When I was young, he ALWAYS creeped me out. I even had insomnia and nightmares. He's still really scary now!

21 Shan Yu Shan Yu is the main antagonist of Disney's 1998 animated feature film, Mulan. He is the evil leader of the Hun Army.

This guy is just terrifying! And ruthless!

22 Prince Hans Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, also known as Hans Westergaard, is a fictional character from Walt Disney Animation Studios' 53rd animated film, Frozen.
23 The Hunter (Bambi)

Sure you never see him, but that scene is easily the most memorable part of Bambi.

24 Te Kā (Moana)

Technically not a villain, just someone who had her heart stolen. - AnimalsLover
