Silva is one of the main reasons Skyfall is the best Bond ever (though I love you too Daniel Craig! ). Instead of the typical "I want to be all-powerful and rule the world" type of villain, Silva had a personal vendetta, and only used cliches like bombings and technological hackings to exact his revenge. He had no apparent desire to rule the world, and didn't care if he died so long as he got his revenge first. That makes for an awesome villain!
