Top 10 Most Memorable SpongeBob Episodes From Seasons 1-3

Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of my childhood cartoon, passed away recently. He created such an amazing show that changed my life. So I decided to take a look back at the earlier seasons of SpongeBob and list the ones that are the most memorable.
The Top Ten
1 Band Geeks

Yeah, this episode is one that a lot of people talk about. Not only is it a memorable episode, but it is also arguably the best. I love pretty much everything about it. It has almost every character included and they all have a moment to shine. Patrick delivers one of the funniest lines ever. “Is mayonnaise an instrument? ” It also has a very happy ending with Squidward beating Squilliam. That whole concert at the end is one of the best moments of the show by far. It actually brings tears to my eyes sometimes. There’s just so good to say about this episode. It’s funny, impactful, strong, and just overall amazing. An absolute masterpiece.

Amazing episode, especially the song "Sweet Victory". RIP Stephen Hillenburg. Thank you for defining my childhood.

Yes, Patrick. Mayonnaise is an instrument.

The best episode of the show bar none.

2 Help Wanted

This is it. The episode that started it all. The episode that lead to one of the greatest cartoons of all time. This episode is just so special because for this very reason. It introduces us to these iconic characters. SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs. The show definitely started strong. It’s so funny and that montage with SpongeBob making the Krabby Patties is so entertaining. Stephen Hillenburg created such an amazing show. I really miss him.

The only one Stephen Hillenburg had complete control over, this is why it didn't have Sandy or Karen, as neither squirrels or computers are taught in marine school, and Plankton was absent due to the short slot.

The first episode of the series and it was a good setting in terms of theme and the first introduction of the main character. Stephen Hillenburg will be missed. Thank you for everything you give us.

Stephen will be missed and his legacy will live on throughout history.

3 Chocolate With Nuts

Easily the most quotable episode of the show. It has some of the best jokes and some of the most memorable lines. Like when Patrick says “I love you”. It’s just so hilarious. It also has what is quite possibly the best joke in SpongeBob history. That one fish who keeps chasing SpongeBob and Patrick while shouting “CHOCOLATE! ” Makes me laugh every time. I also really love those two old women that are seen in this episode. They’re only in it for about 2 minutes but they are a really hilarious elderly duo. Such a funny episode.

The Chocolate gag was the funniest part.

4 Christmas Who?

SpongeBob has had two Christmas specials and both of them are really great. But the one that stands out the most is easily this one. This is honestly one of the best Christmas specials ever. I watched it a lot when I was a kid. It perfectly captures the spirit of Christmas. It’s very heartwarming. The song is one of the most memorable SpongeBob moments ever. I also like how Squidward, Who was against the idea of Christmas at first, decides to make everyone happy by giving them presents. Which just happen to be stuff from Squidward’s house, thus leaving him with nothing. Yeah, the ending is the only thing I don’t like about this episode. Still, it’s an episode that left a huge impact. I even still have SpongeBob and Patrick ornaments inspired by this episode.

This is my all time favourite Christmas Special and I want to thank Stephen Hillenburg for shaping my childhood and many others, he is gone but that does not mean his legacy won't live on forever, My you rest in peace Stephen

The classic Christmas episode, though there was the alternate one.

5 SB-129

A totally unique episode that took time travel to an entertaining level.
Squidward gets frozen and goes back to the past where he sees SpongeBob and Patrick’s primitive ancestors, then he causes trouble to them, and they get him back, forcing Squidward to try going back to the present but goes to a time paradox of nothing, and he’s alone, in fact so much that he feels to lonely to enjoy hi,self and wants to go back to the normal world, in which SpongeBob and Patrick prompt him to go back through time once more.

A unique episode with creative effort from Stephen Hillenburg and his team.

By the way, I found that one Spongegar pose to be very funny LONG before it became a meme. SB-129 pretty much involves Squidward being frozen for thousands of years and ending up in the future. What they do with this concept is absolutely hilarious. They also have Squidward go to the past and meet primitive SpongeBob and Patrick who would later appear in “Ugh”. An episode that I really do not like. But the episode funniest part is when Squidward ends up in the middle of nowhere and we see the word “alone” a bunch of times. Although, the way they have him get back in the time machine is lazy writing. Overall, this is a very enjoyable episode with some pretty funny moments.

That was a great episode. It proves that time travel totally became an interesting plot device with Squidward going on hilarious misadventures.

6 Pizza Delivery

I don't understand why is Band Geeks #1 at all best episode lists. Sure, it is a great episode, but it is barely in my top 10. This one is the funniest Spongebob episode of all, with 0 percent of filler and funny jokes throughout the whole episode. Band Geeks has a little bit of filler, the beginning, however, Pizza Delivery is funny from the first second of the episode. That separates Pizza Delivery, Chocolate With Nuts and Graveyard Shift from Band Geeks. However, of those three episodes, Pizza Delivery is the best. It gave us some of the most memorable and most funny jokes in Spongebob history, like the Krusty Krab Pizza song, Spongebob being able to drive a rock, Spongebob's weird dance, the hurricane stopping etc. I also like how Squidward stood up for Spongebob towards the end. #4 is an insult, this episode should be #1

Hands down one of the funniest episodes of the show. It’s great that we get an entire episode with SpongeBob and Squidward going on an adventure together. It also gives us some really great jokes. Like SpongeBob singing the Krusty Krabby pizza song and him being able to drive a rock. The rock makes me laugh every time. I also like how at the end when the customer doesn’t accept the pizza, Squidward stands up for SpongeBob despite hating him. I thought that was very nice of him. This is an episode that has a lot of memorable things about. Very entertaining.

Squidward showing compassion and standing up for SpongeBob is honestly one of the greatest moments of the entire series.

One of the best episodes where Squidward’s being nice to SpongeBob.
A creative lesson.

7 F.U.N.

This was one of my favorite episodes as a kid just because of the song. The song is just so great. The rest of the episode is great too. SpongeBob is teaching Plankton about friendship because he feels bad for him. This just shows how big SpongeBob’s heart is. Since if Plankton were to make a friend, he probably wouldn’t be evil. This ends up failing, but he at least tried. It’s just amazing how much of following this episode has since a lot of people really love to sing the song. I remember a bunch of kids in my elementary school would often sing the song. And when I was in high school, we would also sing it. But we would change the lyrics to make it inappropriate. I love this episode.

Perfect lessons.

8 Just One Bite

Basically, Squidward claims that he has never had a Krabby Patty, despite accidentally eating a bunch of them in Your Shoe’s Untied, so SpongeBob tries to get him to try one. This episode has an excellent message of don’t knock it until you try it. Squidward kept on refusing to eat the Krabby Patty, but he eventually does and ends up liking it. This tends to happen to a lot of people who refuse to try something. There are also some pretty great jokes like Squidward trying to eat a Krabby Patty out of a trash can and ends up eating everything inside the trash can EXCEPT the Krabby Patty. However, my favorite joke is when Squidward sneaks into the Krusty Krab and ends up getting burned by gasoline and fire. A scene that was removed from the episode and never put back in despite the show getting away with much worse in later episodes. They should really put it back in.

In this episode, Squidward became obsessed with Krabby patties, in fact so obsessed that he overdosed himself with them and blew up, forcing him to the hospital.

You like Krabby Patties, don't you, Squidward?

9 Pickles

An episode that makes a big deal about pickles on a burger. I personally hate eating pickles and I always have them removed when I get a burger at McDonalds. Since SpongeBob is known for being a perfect fry cook, it’s shocking when he forgot to put pickles on Bubble Bass’ Krabby Patty. Although, he actually didn’t forget. The pickles were just under his tongue. However, it caused SpongeBob to lose his confidence and he had to try to get it back with the help of Mr. Krabs. I thought it was a very nice and sweet episode with some good laughs. Definitely a very enjoyable and memorable episode.

Bubble bass made the whole pickle issue funny.

10 Hall Monitor
The Contenders
11 The Graveyard Shift

The hash slinging slasher was a great joke that was realistic, and it was really just someone trying to hire a job at the Kristen Krab.

12 Sailor Mouth

This episode manages to find a way to have the characters swear in a family friendly and hilarious way. I find this episode to be very relatable because when I was a kid and found out about swear words, I would often use them and get in trouble for it. It’s very hilarious how whenever the characters swear, it’s blocked by a comedic sound. Like a dolphin noise. I especially liked when Spongebob and Patrick were playing a Chutes and Ladders parody and SpingeBob gets so frustrated that he says a bad word. That happens to a lot of people. So it’s very accurate. This is a very funny and enjoyable episode.

This took swear words to the hilarious level, and the censor sounds were funny,

13 Scaredy Pants

The original Halloween episode.
There are a lot of Halloween specials, but this is the original one.
It’s short, but a classic.
Never forgotten.

14 Something Smells
15 I'm with Stupid

Good voice acting

Bad voice acting

Weird fart jokes

16 Bubblestand

This was really funny, SlongeBob and Patrick blow bubbles that come in many different shapes and sizes, and Squidward is driven crazy and the whole technique thing was hilarious and the episode ended with the biggest bubble of all, which sent squidward’s house into the air before popping back down.

17 Texas
18 Club Spongebob

This was not such a good episode because it was one of the 1st Squidward torture episodes gone wrong.
Squidward gets lost and SpongeBob and Patrick annoy him and he gets lost, then there’s the magic conch he asks, but it tells Squidward to starve and suffer and stay lost.
Which was stupid.

19 Idiot Box

This was my favorite episode of SpongeBob when I was little.

20 Arrgh!
21 Frankendoodle

The best episode bar none

22 Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III
23 Shanghaied
24 The Camping Episode

It's one of the most legendary spongebob episode
