Though they have some death metal elements, they are just not a death metal band. In my eyes they are a thrash metal band. I feel like some people just include Carnifex, Kreator, Lamb of God, Possessed (Though they pretty much invented death metal band, they are more of a thrash metal band rather than death metal), Sepultura, Sodom, and Toxic Holocaust as death metal, because the have some death metal elements.
