Top Ten Metal Bands Who Never Released a Bad Album

Most bands usually take a bad step every now and then, but not these guys. Here are ten bands that have never released a bad or universally panned album.
The Top Ten
1 Death Death was an American death metal band formed in 1983 by Chuck Schuldiner. Death is considered to be one of the most influential bands in heavy metal and a pioneering force in death metal. Its debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, has been widely regarded as the first death metal record, while the band's driving force, Chuck Schuldiner, is acknowledged as the "Godfather of Death Metal." Death released 7 studio albums, and are the band that started the Florida Death Metal scene. They were known for their death metal classics Lack of Comprehension and Crystal Mountain. Death ended in 2001 when Schuldiner died of Brain Cancer.

They invent a genre, then perfect it, and then throw progressive elements at it. The recipe for a perfect discography.

I always see them first on these sort of lists, maybe I should give em a listen.

2 Opeth Opeth is a Swedish progressive death metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1990 by David Isberg, who invited Mikael Akerfeldt into the band as a bassist. Isberg ended up leaving the band, which lead to Mikael becoming the band's vocalist, guitarist, principal songwriter, and driving force. Along with Edge of Sanity, Opeth is credited with being the first progressive death metal band, although they now play progressive rock. Akerfeldt is good friends with Jonas Renkse of Katatonia, and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

I don't care what anyone says, their last 2 albums are great. So few bands play progressive rock anymore and none do it better than Opetj

I totally agree, whether it's pale communication (2014) or black water park(2001) all of them are great.

Coundn't agree more. They're totally worthy of all the overwhelming attention and praises they receive.

Of course, Opeth at number 1. They are the Gods of music.

3 Mastodon Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in early 2000 and composed of bassist Troy Sanders, guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor.

Incredible vocals, amazing drums, innovative guitars, and such versatility. You'll certainly be hooked after listening to a couple of their songs.

I'm going to be honest. I didn't like The Hunter all that much. It wasn't bad, but it was extremely disappointing.

Every album is amazing, yet so unique

4 Tool Tool is an American alternative metal/progressive metal band, that was formed in 1990. The band is set together between Maynard James Keenan (Vocals), Danny Carey (Drums), Adam Jones (Guitar) and since 1995 Justin Chancellor (Bass). The band is known for their influences from electronic sounds and their overly complex and strangely structured songs. They released their debut album "Undertow" in 1993 and later put out other famous albums, like "Lateralus" and "10,000 Days". The band has established a legacy as one of the most well-known and beloved progressive metal and alternative metal bands of all time.

Tool is the Pink Floyd of heavy metal for me, so much thought is put in their music. Sure, they rarely release anything, but quality over quantity any day

It's hard to mess up with only four albums, but when each one seems to raise the standard for an almost perfect band, it's a bit hard to ignore.

I wanted to vote for Migos but it said that the list was only Metal so I decided to vote for something random. Welp at least u get free vote.

5 Gojira Gojira is a progressive metal band from Bayonne, France. The band was known as Godzilla until 2001. Gojira is composed of Joe Duplantier on vocals and rhythm guitar, his brother Mario Duplantier on drums, Christian Andreu on lead guitar, and Jean-Michel Labadie on bass.

I know most people haven't heard this band, but believe me, they're worth listening to. All of their albums are great, as indicated by the list, but I would highly recommend Through Silver In Blood and Times of Grace

Yes! Amazing, atmospheric, dark, sludgy progressive post metal. They don't really fall into any subgenre. They are very unique

The most consistent metal band I know - 10 albums as of 2015 and 30 years of improvement: every new album is better than the previous one.

Blind Guardian changed their subgenre several times but never disappointed. Moreover, they created at least one masterpiece in every subgenre they tried: from thrashy speed metal to symphonic metal. Blind Guardian did these metal subgenres in their own unique way so they didn't sound like the other bands in these subgenres. They never sold out and never did a subgenre that isn't metal.

9 Testament Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band consists of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and drummer Gene Hoglan.

Yeah hail bathory! Their all songs are polished to perfection.

Well, I don't think they've ever done a "bad" album, but none of their 90's stuff was as good as their perfect 80's albums.

I didn't add them but I agree they've never put out a bad album. A few mediocre ones but not bad at all.

No Bad album in my opinion

The x factor & Virtual XI

20 Alice in Chains Alice in Chains is an American grunge/alternative metal band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and original lead vocalist Layne Staley.

When TDPDH is the 'worst' you ever did and it is still top notch, I think AIC is the obvious choice. Not even in my top 5 favourite bands, but when it comes to Cantrell and the boys releases "failling" is a word that simply doesn't exist.

Not a fan of their Duvall era music, to be completely honest.
