This band is great... They have beautifull songs... They are simply awesome! Respect! :X ( they are more awesome than Bullet For My Valentine

One of the heaviest metal bands of the 90's After Max left who cares though.

Really? All the way down here Van Halen is the king of guitar with out him there would be no tapping of metal VAN HALEN RULES ANYONE! - macrox16

Such a classic band. Should definitely be in the top 10

Anyone who smiles at you whilst delivering an explosive solo should go and play in Bieber's band.

Yes, with David Lee Roth in there, they were a rocking band. Too short-lived line-up.

433 Linkin Park Linkin Park Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The members include Chester Bennington (vocals), Mike Shinoda (rapping vocals, pianist), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ) and Rob Bourdon (drums). Linkin Park are associated with a mixture ...read more.

The old linkin park yes, Hybird Theory and Meteora are awesome. However there latest stuff I wouldn't call metal.

Linkin Park is not exactly metal but they are a good band! I enjoy their music very much even though some of my favorite bands are Death, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Meshuggah, Immortal, Kataklysm, Agalloch etc. I don't know why some so called "metal elitist" bash and hate Linkin Park? Chester and Mike Shinoda are really talented.

Linkin Park is the perfect combo of Hip-hop and Rock (Rock and Rap -Mike Shinoda). However, it also has an amazing metal element to it that still remains in their new albums everyone complains about. (Victimized, Lies Greed Misery... ) Without Chester, this band wouldn't be on this list. This band is first on the alternative rock list. Nirvana is a good second place winner though. :P

It is metal, it's called nu-metal. But the band still sucks. - Disturbedpotato

434 X Japan X Japan X Japan is a Japanese heavy metal band from Chiba, formed in 1982 by drummer Yoshiki and lead vocalist Toshi.

I do agree that Maiden is legendary and has everything when it comes to a metal band, however, X Japan's music is well deserving of being in the top 10.
Something heavy? X, Orgasm
Something not so heavy? Crucify My Love, Forever Love
Awesome riffs? Rusty Nail, Rose of Pain
Amazing lyrics? Kurenai (if you understand the Japanese)
Meaningful Ballads? Everything released after 1993
30 minute epic? Art of Life
Fantastic vocals? Just listen to Toshi's voice, distinctive and 4 octave range
Excellent solos? IV (or listen to their lives, guitar, drum, piano solo you have it all)

This is coming from someone who's been a metal-head for as long as they can remember. Just because X Japan is not European or does not speak English does not make them undeserving.

Who the F is X? You have no idea what you're missing out on.

I am a huge Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath fan etc. So I like how this list is shaping up. To see X Japan in 5th is incredible, very deserving of the top 10. I had to choose them because the complete variation in their music. They can easily pull off thrash metal, yet create some of the best metal symphonies I have ever heard. Brilliant musicians.

Who is X Japan, you asked? Well, X Japan is the best metal band of all time (in my opinion). Heck, I used to hate metal, but X Japan is the very first metal band that I can stand. Haha guess you don't have a clue about who they are, or you knew about them but their music is just not your cup of tea. And X Japan's Art of Life is a masterpiece, along with Dream Theater's A Change of Seasons...
WE ARE X!

X Japan are amazing! Great solos, riffs, look, lyrics...everything!

435 Accept Accept Accept is a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, originally assembled by former vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes.

They are invencible on stage, their sound is amazing, their set list is perfect, and the performing is awesome. Shall be at the top behind Judas Priest. - JR

This band should be in the top 20. - Rambles

Yes! I like them, and Udo's vocal range is excellent.

Underrated band, can't see how Linkin Park, AC/DC and X Japan are above this. - Disturbedpotato

436 Morbid Angel Morbid Angel Morbid Angel is an American death metal band based in Tampa, Florida. UK music magazine Terrorizer ranked Morbid Angel's 1989 debut Altars of Madness first in its list "Top 40 greatest death metal albums".

Dave Vincent Morbid Angel are evil personified. When I first heard 'Chapel of Ghouls' I felt so satanic that I had to shower in holy water and repent.

One of the best metal bands ever

Morbid Angel should be in Top Ten! Trey is Awesome!

Morbid Angel started blast beatsand gave us al those amazing albums, and yet so low? I don't understand.

437 S.O.D.

Lol! Yeah, it's hilarious, monstrous, definitely not politically correct, and an all-time classic. They did a sequel, 'Bigger Than The Devil', but the magic wasn't there.

March of the S.O. D at almost 200 are ya'll nuts?
Speak English or Die is so harsh it makes me want to punch my grandma in the face!

Lol! It's at 549 now. ATTENTION THREADMASTER: apart from the first 50-60 bands, would you mind flipping this thread around back to front, much like a Japanese comic book please?

438 Suicidal Tendencies Suicidal Tendencies Suicidal Tendencies is an American crossover thrash band founded in 1980 in Venice, California by vocalist Mike Muir, who is the only remaining original member of the band. The band is often credited as one of "the fathers of crossover thrash".

Yes! Rocky George was a beast of a guitarist, Mad Mike wrote great lyrics, and when they crossed over, they created one of the best metal albums around, 'Lights, Camera, Revolution...'

Best band around... Back in the early 90's. Music is still great to listen to.

Suicidal Tendencies seriously deserve to be in the top 100 they are amazing and seeing Mike Muir's dedication and from where they went to playing in their kitchen to play in the biggest gigs in L. A is truly amazing, ST forever.

439 Earthshaker
440 Loudness

one of the greatest metal bands in japan like DEAD END, GASTUNK, 44MAGNUM, THE STALIN, etc - ronluna

Japanese metallers? If so, they had a great guitar sound way back when.
