Best band ever!

142 Katatonia Katatonia Katatonia is a Swedish metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström. The band has released nine studio albums spanning the course of three decades, and their tenth studio album, The Fall of Hearts was released on May 20, 2016.

It's hard to keep re-iterating this, but apart from the generation-spanning greats like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Maiden, Sabbath etc. You'll notice how the list gets better and better as you go. It's a generational issue, and this is not a Miss Universe pageant, and this thread is also a great tool for educating the younger generation on bands they aren't aware of. If 20 kids dig Katatonia after reading this then I say good.

What in the world? If you people don't think that Katatonia is good then you obviously don't know great music. Honestly? I am very appalled at this. It makes absolutely no sense for them to be this low.

Yes! My word these depressing giants are good. 'The Great Cold Distance' is fantastic - 'July' particularly.

143 DevilDriver DevilDriver DevilDriver are an American heavy metal band from Santa Barbara, California, formed in 2002, consisting of vocalist Dez Fafara, guitarists Mike Spreitzer and Neal Tiemann, bassist Diego "Ashes" Ibarra and drummer Austin D'Amond.

DevilDriver is pretty damn good, but I think the reason they're all the way down here is because there pretty unheard of, they may not be the heaviest, but they have amazing voice and instrumentals

I guess the most people who gonna call herself a "metal Head" are listening to nu metal. The gay art of metal.

This is the true!

True Norwegian black metal. Period. - GreenDayFan21

Trve Norwegian Black Metal. So obscure that 0% voted for this. One of the most preeminent bands to exist. - LadyBanshee

Fenriz is a true genius

Trve Kvlt Black Metal is not for everyone... That's why I love Darkthrone so much. Keep metal in the underground! That's where it should be, away from anything mainstream.

158 Throwdown

Pretty decent Pantera-esque metal. I have 'Deathless' and 'Venom and Tears' and both are good.
