The Top Ten
1 ...And Justice for All - Metallica

Originally released on one vinyl disc, the album was quickly re-released as a double album without additional tracks.

2 Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - Dream Theater
3 Live After Death - Iron Maiden

Maybe my favorite Maiden album. That's called musicianship. The live version of Hallowed Be Thy Name is even better than the original, in my opinion. Phantom of the Opera is also better on the live album.

4 The Book of Souls - Iron Maiden
5 Live - Blind Guardian

Same like Iron Maiden - they are very good live and some of their live performances are even better than the studio versions (Banish From Sanctuary, Valhalla).

6 Hardwired... to Self-Destruct - Metallica
7 The Astonishing - Dream Theater
8 Alpha Noir / Omega White - Moonspell

Alpha Noir is heavier (death metal) - ex. Lickanthrope, Em Nome do Medo ("In the Name of Fear")
Omega White is softer (gothic metal) - ex. Whiteomega, White Skies, A Greater Darkness

9 Hammerheart - Bathory
10 The Living Infinite - Soilwork
The Contenders
11 Metallica (Black Album) - Metallica
12 Blood on Ice - Bathory
13 Tribute - Ozzy Osbourne
14 Live Evil - Black Sabbath
15 Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
16 Priest... Live! - Judas Priest
17 No Remorse - Motorhead
18 Mesmerize / Hypnotize - System of a Down
19 The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails

@visitor - I agree it's not metal and I always say this band isn't metal in general. But many metalheads believe they are metal and I added it to avoid questions /comments like: "Where is The Fragile? " This is the reason I have put it at #10 and not higher.

20 Tokyo Tapes - Scorpions
