Top 10 Metal and Rock Songs with Dark Lyrics and Happy MusicMetal_Treasure I don't say these songs are bad. I like some of them very much. This list just shows that sometimes music artists do weird things, even the good musicians.
Dark lyrics can be sad or creepy, or just related to serious lyrical themes but suddenly some happy cheerful music starts ...
The Top Ten
Thanks to Ozzy's cheesy voice every song they meant to be dark sounds happy even with Black Sabbath... am I the only one who laughing on the vocals of Black Sabbath or War Pigs?
That's some nice LSD to be on if you think that in Sabbath (espcially on the song Black Sabbath) that the vocals are funny.
Its supposed to be really dark yet when I hear this its sounds happy - christangrant
The entire song follows this gap between music and lyrics. - Metal_Treasure
Believe it or not, this happy music was written to a suicide song. - Metal_Treasure
Man, the lyrics to this song are really dark when you think about it, but damn if it isn't catchy as hell - TheStargazer
I never liked this song... mainly due to it's a halloween song yet it's cheesy and poppy as hell. Not talking about BÖC have tens of better songs than this one.
An upbeat sounding song about nuclear detonation:
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die. - Metal_Treasure
Chorus sounds like some happy kids sing this (play the song sample):
"Fast as a shark, he'll cut out of the dark
He's a killer, he'll rip out your heart
On a one way track and you're not coming back
'Cause the killer's on the attack". - Metal_Treasure
Ooh, yes. Who knew that a song about a Kiss fan who dies in a car accident can be so much fun? (Sarcasm alert). - Gg2000
Just click on the song sample below. - Metal_Treasure
The chorus is too happy for this subject matter:
"No, no turning back
I'm banished from sanctuary
The darkness in me is filling me with pain
There's no way to turn back for eternity". - Metal_Treasure
Music to the chorus is pretty happy - Metal_Treasure
I love this song start to finish but the chorus is too playful for these lyrics:
"Just try it, entice it telling me I'm dead. Don't fight it, invite it",... and so on. - Metal_Treasure
It's only the chorus - music is too cheerful for these lines (play the song sample):
"No doctor - no healing, there's only disbelieving
The naked truth - no fantasy
No doctor - no healing, this poison gas I'm breathing
No other choice - than suicide and mania". - Metal_Treasure
I like that song.It was on my Guitar Hero game. - Fretto
I don't think it's that dark, if I'm honest. - Gg2000
Pretty happy sounding alt. Rock song (especially with the xylophone sounds), but with a dark/depressing meaning...
It's actually about the hard life in the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, what (could) lead to committing suicide. ("A handshake of carbon monoxide")
But besides that, it's a brilliant composed song!
The song is a upbeat song but the lyrics are depressing which when Gray Jules covered the song he made the music match the lyrics - christangrant
