Top Ten Metal Screamers

The Contenders: Page 2

21 Tim Lambesis - As I Lay Dying

What a pity what happened, such a great vocalist and band and then... but I will never forget the brutal screams and the great influence this voice was to me. - Flav

22 Serj Tankian - System of a Down Serj Tankian - System of a Down Serj Tankian is a Lebanese-born Armenian-American singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, poet, and political activist.

Listen to suite pee and suggestions

But I don't think he screams. - Th3Zm0nst3r

23 Keisuke Minami - FaLiLV

Although this band is not well known, this screamer is easily a top contender. He has the range and the power as well as the ability to improvise with his voice as shown on the song "Defeat the Beat." (Other great songs include Crossover and Stray in Chaos.) He hits the highs and lows like an angel (or demon more-like). The best part is how easy it is to tell that he loves what he does just through the music he produces. Fantastic screamer, fantastic band.

24 Petri Lindroos - Ensiferum Petri Lindroos - Ensiferum

There's just something special about his screams...

One of the few on this list that is actually in a metal band.

25 Jeffrey Wellfare - Capture the Crown
26 Chris "Fronz" Fronzak - Attila

Why is this here

27 Spencer Sotelo - Periphery

This list is BEST screamers, not most popular. While Spencer isn't my favorite, I adore his harsh vocals. They hold so much power. Also his cleans are that of Icarus, I mean, he can hit notes higher than Haley Williams...

28 Caleb Shomo - Attack Attack!
29 Rob Halford - Judas Priest Rob Halford - Judas Priest Robert John Arthur "Rob" Halford is an English singer and songwriter, who is best known as the lead vocalist for the Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Judas Priest and famed for his powerful wide ranging operatic voice.

Stand by for exciter! Damn, Halford brought us some high notes over the years and still can sing those every concert. Come on, do I need to talk about the guy who performed Painkiller...he's the metal god and we all know it. And he's such a nice guy that usually he lets the crowd sing Breaking the Law in his place. Yeah, that's how nice he is to his fans.

56? Listen to songs on Stained Class, Defenders, and Painkiller. He was and still is the best screecher there is.

Rob Halford and Ian Gillan should be in the top 10, if not top 3 because they started it all. - Metal_Treasure

Well... Mr. Halford can sing the most soft tunes and the most powerfall harmonies in metal. Nevertheless when it comes to high pitch screaming (Painkiller, All Guns Blazing, Screaming for Vengeance, Exciter, Nostradamus, Judas Rising among many others) or even death metal growls (Whals of Valhalla, Metal Gods live) he can really scare you to death.

30 Jari Mäenpää - Wintersun Jari Mäenpää - Wintersun

One of the best screamers in my opinion, and his clean vocal are excellent, too!

31 Joel Birch - The Amity Affliction

I love Joel birch, but for the record Nicholas Matthews is better.

Simply put his screams are godly.

32 Helge Stang - Equilibrium

His extremely high-pitched screams as well as very powerful growls are amazing

33 Michael Bohn - Issues
34 Brendan Murphy - Counterparts
35 Chris "Motionless" Cerulli - Motionless in White
36 Hansi Kursch - Blind Guardian Hansi Kursch - Blind Guardian Hansi Kürsch, born Hans Jürgen Kürsch, is the lead singer, lyricist, co-composer and bassist for German power metal band Blind Guardian . Heavily influenced by Freddie Mercury, he creates a huge choir effect by overdubbing his own voice multiple times in complex, overlapping vocal harmonies. He records ...read more.

He's not a scream-style singer but he screams pretty often and his screams are awesome - full of emotion, powerful, melodic and always spot on. The scream to 'Fiddler on the Green' is 10-11 sec long and is brilliantly crafted. He did some screams for other bands as a guest musician, which means he's really good. He screams even more live, and maybe even better - I guess the crowd inspires him.
Try:
Demons & Wizards - My Last Sunrise, Fiddler on the Green, Poor Man's Crusade;
Blind Guardian - The Last Candle, This Will Never End, Bright Eyes. - Metal_Treasure

I love his skills, specially on studio. Here's the guy who records 1000 voices for every song, creating vocal layers so dense, beautiful and high that will blow your mind.

Check Mirror Mirror, Bright Eyes and Valhalla.

37 Matt Heafy - Trivium Matt Heafy - Trivium Matthew "Matt" Kiichi Heafy is a Japanese-American musician, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Orlando based Heavy Metal/Metalcore band Trivium.
38 Winston McCall - Parkway Drive Winston McCall - Parkway Drive Winston Thomas McCall is an Australian singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the metalcore band Parkway Drive and the hardcore punk band Rain Dogs.

This guy should be number 1! Why is he so low?

Why is the best so damn low?

39 Ian Gillan - Deep Purple Ian Gillan - Deep Purple Ian Gillan is an English singer and songwriter. He originally found success as the lead singer and lyricist for Deep Purple, and the original singer on the rock opera concept album Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber, where Gillan had the leading role (Jesus Christ).

The Master. Hands down. 'Child In Time' is legendary.
He was the first metal screamer and the first singer who became famous for his screams so he should be #1. - Metal_Treasure

40 Jarkko Ahola - Northern Kings, Teräsbetoni, Ahola Jarkko Ahola - Northern Kings, Teräsbetoni, Ahola Jarkko Kalevi Ahola is a Finnish performing artist, composer and singer, best known as a metal singer. He is the vocalist, bass player and one of the three songwriters of the metal band Teräsbetoni. He also started a solo career as Ahola, a metal band.

His intro scream to 'Don't Bring Me Down' by Northern Kings is epic.
He loves screaming and does that on almost every song. - Metal_Treasure
