Top Ten Metal Songs that are Classified in a Wrong Metal Subgenre

The Top Ten
1 Madhouse - Anthrax

Sounds nothing like thrash metal. More like a simply heavy metal song with a thrashy riff like some Iced Earth songs or Helloween's Gorgar.

I agree it's not thrash. I actually agree with all 10 items submitted by the author.

2 Ace of Spades - Motorhead

No way it's speed metal. This song is fast, but the music itself nothing like speed metal, it's actually a fast paced rock and roll/hard rock song, or if it's important to consider it metal then it's a fast paced trad. heavy metal song, but not speed metal.

3 Black Metal - Venom

Haha, I love this one - a thrash song named Black Metal with lyrics mentioning rock N' roll: "Lay down your souls to the gods rock n' roll".

The title mislead the most people... it's actually an early thrash metal song and not early black metal.

4 Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Not the first HEAVY metal song, but the first DOOM metal song. by the way I could add almost every early Black Sabbath songs (1970-1973) as the same category, but it was the first song they released so I added this one.

5 I Want Out - Helloween

It's a very common mistake - because Helloween are mostly power metal, people think that each and every song is power metal. Same for thrash bands - not every Metallica or Megadeth song is thrash, and so on.

6 Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin

Not a viking metal song. Not even metal by the most, but some people accept it as a heavy metal song.

7 Dante's Inferno - Iced Earth

The riff is thrashy, but it's not exactly thrash metal. It's simply heavy metal.

8 Fade to Black - Metallica

Traditional heavy metal, not thrash.

9 Rainbow In the Dark - Dio

Traditional heavy metal, not power metal.

10 Symptom of the Universe - Black Sabbath
The Contenders
11 Metabolic - Slipknot

It's not nu-metal or alternative metal. It's groove metal with a bit of thrash as well.
