Top Ten Metal Subgenres You Didn't Know Existed
Subgenres are pretty ridiculous. Here are some of the weirdest, most obscure ones.Slow chords being repeated, quiet Death growls, and funeral music elements. This isn't something I would willingly listen to.
Arguably my favorite doom subgenre.
I know all genres except for war metal... I think I like drone metal, funeral doom, or blackgaze the best. Sunn O))), Earth, Ahab, Deafheaven... all great bands. Nice list!
I haven't heard only of this one. This probably sucks
Weird combo of Black Metal and Shoegazing
Stuff like Deafheaven I would assume.
Another microgenre of Folk Metal, the only notable band is Alestorm.
There's only 8 bands in it in total.
Long chords being played over and over again, sometimes with dark ambient influences. The only band I really enjoy is Sunn O))), and a little bit of Earth.
Some bands in this genre are popular, but their fans probably don't know the term 'Death n Roll'. Its Death Metal with h 70s hard rock influences. Entombed and Gorefest are the most notable examples.
A very small subgenre of Black Metal
The term isn't well known, but the bands are. It's Progressive Metal, with lots of.experimentation and ambient influences. Lots of bands don't have vocals. Neurosis and The Ocean are notable examples
A Death Metal subgenre with a small fanbase. Most bands are influenced by Dying Fetus, containing 'slamming' drums and riffs, and almost undecipherable vocals.
This one gets a lot of hate.
The term isn't well known, but bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge are popular
This sounds interesting. I did mathcore, or core maths, in most of my maths courses...
The only band playing this is Flametal, who invented it. It's awesome.
Instrumentals by Flametal - Magnetic Propulsion (Tientos), Cosmosis (Bulerias), Alien Ghost Maneuvers
A lot of people always think of black metal as satanic. Most of it is satanic, but there are Christian black metal bands. Incredible but true
