The Top Ten
1 Fingolfin
2 Morgoth

Most casual Tolkien fans think that Sauron is the big bad guy, but true Tolkien fans know that this guy is the embodiment of evil and is in charge of Sauron. They should make a movie one day about the 1st age, I would love to see Morgoth in it.

3 Beren
4 Finrod Felagund
5 Feanor

I really didn't think Feanor would be this high up on the list, but he is. His spirit is just amazing, and honestly if Morgoth hadn't killed Finwë and stolen the Silmarils, he wouldn't have become what he did. Guys literally accept it, his mom died giving birth to him because it took all her life energy, and her fëa passed to the halls of Mandos.

If you have siblings, you'd understand his actions towards Fingolfin and Finarfin.

I agree, it wasn't Fëanor's fault that anything happened. Also if he hadn't rebelled against the Valar and brought the elves to Middle Earth in the first place, the entire history of Middle Earth would be completely different.

6 Turgon

Wow, finally someone who also likes Turgon as much as I do. I mostly just pity him and I feel like he's also a pretty decent character that didn't deserve anything that happened to him. Especially in the end, how noble of a king he was to say that he would burn with his city. If he had went with the other Gondolindrim to Idril's Secret Way, all of his people probably would have been killed. Turgon was a great king that never deserved to fall under the Doom of Mandos (yet he still did, sadly).

Out of all Silmarillion characters, I would have to say that Turgon is my favorite. I have no idea why, maybe it's just because he's such a great, (hidden) character. After all, he was the King of Gondolin. I pity the moment when he finally left Gondolin during the Nirnaeth Arnodiad only to see his brother die... and I used to think 'oh, if someone hates the fëanorians, I hate them too'. I will admit, Turgon is the only exception.

7 Túrin
8 Lúthien
9 Maedhros

Unlike his cousins Maedhros doesn't make perfect decisions. He is more relatable. When everything is going bad all he wants to do is what is right. Also, he is one of the bravest and most cunning warriors, especially after losing his hand. Out of all of the Silmarillion characters Maedhros is the one I get most attached to.

10 Fingon
The Contenders
11 Maglor
12 Maeglin

It wasn't Maeglin's fault that the location of Gondolin was revealed— if you put yourself in his position, the majority of people would most likely accept Morgoth's offer, especially if you were in love with the King's daughter as well. He's also a pretty tragic character, losing his parents and the love of his life..

13 Beleg Cúthalion
14 Aredhel
15 Húrin
16 Sauron Sauron is the title character and main antagonist of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Originally a servant of the first Dark Lord, Morgoth. Morgoth was later defeated and Sauron fled. He later came back to Middle Earth and took over as the new Dark Lord by using a Ring of Power. He was later ...read more.
